What kind of leveling kit is preferred?

I want to put a leveling kit on my truck and don't know the name brand or what size to get to level it out. I am a girl so the install will be professionally done, but I heard there is two kinds... metal or poly... what is the main difference? Where would I buy this mod at? and how much is it going to run me?

I have a 2007 Fx4 pretty much stock right now

Thanks for any help

autospring (metal) daystar (poly)
the daystar requires spring compression to be installed. the autospring bolts to the top of the coilover assembly.

i would say that the majority of leveling kit users here are autospring. they list thru ebay: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZsprngbender
install should run you 50-125 then you need an alignment.

im running a 2.5" autospring.

Revtek.

I have a 2" Revtek leveling kit. It goes inside the coilover instead of on top. Basically it preloads the spring. I prefer this to putting something on top of the coilover because it doesn't add any length to the strut eliminating the possibility of interference with the upper control arm as some have reported. The downsides are it is more labour to put in because you have to disassemble the strut, and also your ride may be a bit stiffer because you are stiffening up the front springs. I haven't installed any different kinds but I believe the Autospring goes on top, but the Daystar puts a bit on top and a bit in the spring. Also I believe the Autospring now is revised to eliminate the contact some have had with the upper control arm.

I just had the 2" AutoSpring installed on mine, now it looks like it supposed to look. I called the guys at autospring and they recommended the 2 inch over the 2.5 inch for my truck. I noticed you have a 2007, If I remember right they said something about ford changing the strut assembly on the 07 model. Something about it being tapered ?

Before you order a set, give them a call and ask them about the 07 issue.

just remove your 2" blocks out of the rear for now, save your CV axles from damage until you have money for tires/lift etc

Plus then your lift will seem like you are going up that much higher, then if you have a 2" level then get a 6" lift installed

I'd go for the autospring. Preloading the coil is going to lead to premature fatiguing of the coil and causing front end sag over time. I think the cv's have better ability to compensate for the lift then the preloading of the coil spring.
