Reverse Camera Installion Location

I have a backup camera that I need to install on my 06 F-150. Where are some good places to mount it. I was thinking about drilling a hole where the stock reverse sensors are in the plastic part of the bumper. Is this a good location? I plan on taking the camera out when my lease is up, and covering the hole with a hole plug of some sort, will the dealership say anything about that?

Thanks.

2008 F150 will have the reverse camera mounted in the tailgate handle. It has been done before on present and past F150s as well.

I have a tinted license plate cover, and the lights from the license plate lamps would mess with the night vision sensor.

That looks good, do you have any pics of the viewing angle from the screen?

You always amazed me with all your mods... do you have a complete list

How did you do that? and where does your monitor mount or is it in the Head Unit?

I made a custom mount out a an electrical outlet box and mounted it under the rear bumper. Its low enough you can see anything right behind you (which I doubt you can with one mounted in the handle) and out of the way of the lights so that the nightvision isnt effected.

is the locatione, notice the round lens in the backup alarm hole, not the autopark on the licence plate.

Is a badly red shifted picture. I was sitting in shade looking out at bright light, plus the camera I used to take the picture was not happy in the light so it looks lousy.
Actual view is much better.
I use a 120 degree camera.
Works pretty good, but distance is hard to quickly determine. Still, works well for idiot pedestrians and too close fences.

that is awesome, I just got back from Home Depot and I bought a electrical outlet box. Do you have any pictures on how you mounted it from underneath? Thanks.

It should have two "mounting tabs" or whatever that you would mount it to a stud in the wall with. All I did was drill some small holes into the hitch and then attach the box with some screws using those mounts. It worked like a charm and has been there over 2 years with no problems at all.

Chris Adams, tell me more about this autopark feature?

AKFX4 do you have any pics of the view the camera has? I wanted to do it your way but instead just drilled into my bumper where the reverse sensors would be.
