2006 SuperCab Rear Speaker Malfunction

Has anyone had their rear suicide door speakers act weird? Mine have begun to work intermittedly... sometimes they work great, yet others they sound like they are blown. I had a JVC HU in it, but have since taken it out thinking it might have been the problem, however its still doing it with the factory HU.... ideas? Also, are they warranted?

As long as your truck is still in the bumper to bumper warranty, then yes, they are warranted. Keep the factory head unit in and take it back.

Btw, I have the audiophile system in my 05, and after 1yr/9months and 33K miles on it and my speakers are still as crisp as new.

Lightbulb is it both or just one?

Hey XtremeFORD09, is it both of your rear speakers or just one of them if it is both it could be that they are blown or there could be a conectivity problem with the factory connector the wires could have gotten messed up during the change out, highly unlikely but you never know. Please let us know what you find out though.

ford141 nice truck bro

your best bet is to start at the head unit and check the connections to the rear, then if that doesnt correct the problem, which is 90% more likely than the rears coming unconnected in the door panel. Then check the connection in the rear door panel. If you take the rear door panel out, you might as well throw some aftermarket coaxls in there while youve got the door panel out... then change the fronts to some components...

your problem may be related to a thread that is running on "OTHER BODY"

there are acouple more threads running about water leaks other than the 3rd brakelight and rear window

My back passenger side speaker in my suicide door sounds distorted. i don't listen to music loud at all and my bass is like 2 or 3 bars from the left so I dont think mine could be blown. I never noticed it until i was listening to the radio while installing my maglights.

My truck is at the dealer as I write this "supposedly" getting 3 out of the 4 factory speakers replaced. They tried to tell me nothing was wrong with them but I used the balance & fade to show the service monkey that indeed 3 out of 4 were bad. Since they gave me so much BS about it, I fully expect them to attempt to BS me and not do anyting. Much like everything else in my truck the factory speakers are cheap junk. If I wasn't trading the truck in in 6 months, I would definitely ante up for some Xplod's or Polk's.

KC-10 FE out...

Well, the dealer was no help...

I took the truck in, and for an hour waited in the showroom looking at new model F-150's, mustang's, etc. After an hour the service tech came in and said he couldn't find anything wrong with the rear speakers. He showed me how to do the diagnostic test he did on them, and said they sounded fine (and I agreed at that point). He wanted to just replace them, but the manager said no, since Ford would give them a hard time if they came back with no problems... I left the dealership and got within like 2 miles from my house and they got all distorted again.

I called the dealership and left a message for the service department to call me today. I used my cell phone to record the distortion, and did the diagnostic test he showed me earlier... when it goes to single out the rear speakers (one at a time), both rears have no sound coming out, only a staticy hum... from experiance with speakers, sounds to me like the diaphrams are punctured or blown.

I will keep you posted as to what the dealer does now...

Thumbs down Typical Dealership

So it sounds like your dealership is like mine the only time they can find a problem that you describe is when it's not under waranty. It never fails when I have an issue with my truck they just say " ahhh..don't worry it's normal"
normal my @ss something is wrong

I keep the fader forward just enough to not hear the rears. I think the rears are useless for anything. I'm not a rear seat passenger though.

Okay... so I was out by the mall (where the dealer is), and it started to act up again. I flew over to the service department and pulled the service manager out to listen to it. He agreed that it sounded mildly distorted, finally!! He ordered both rears... not too bad as far as I'm concerned, they finally came through.

Thumbs up Awesome

It's about time they are on your side, but it is sad that you practically had to slap them in the face with it for them to take action.

My rear door is distorted as well. Dealer supposedly checked it out and said it was fine. Of course it wasn't.....

I have such a disdain for dealers I'm going to just replace them myself and forgoe taking it back under warranty.
