Battery Replacement?

I was just wondering how long our Stock batteries should last. I was detailing my truck today, backed out of the garage, then pulled it back in, about 5 minutes later it did not want to start. Took the battery to a local parts store and they tested it and it was bad. I have 48,000 miles on my 04 SCREW, is that normal? I am just worried because I accidently leave my sirius starmate pluged in the cig plug sometimes over night and am wondering if that might have shortened the life of my battery.
Thanks

Nah, did not have the estra cash, I bought an $80 battery that was supposedly better than the one I already had. Thanks for the suggestion though!

05 Screw, on it's third battery. I seem to need one a year. The last one went out of warranty so I replaced it with a non Ford brand battery, I will see if it lasts a little longer. I have 80K kms / 50K miles on my truck and it is stock, no aftermarket goodies to drain the battery.

Motorcraft batteries are free 36-mo replacement. Seems like a waste of 80 bones.

*100-mo pro-rated as well

yeah i have an 05 scab with 18K on it and the battery is about to go.
I have an aftermarket audio system with a 10" sub as well as leaving my radar detector on all the time.....
probally will get a yellow top so i can still listen to the tunes without leaving my truck on as idle kills my mileage

It is a T&H Guard with the bottom skid plate option. I also had it sprayed with Line-X and it has the Line-X Xtra glossy top coat. I have only seen one other truck on this forum with this guard, but his is not sprayed. Not sure if he has the bottom skid plate option either. It is cool because it is like a bull bar-grill guard hybrid.

Buying a yellow top Optima (SC34DU) is a complete waste of money.

12 months free replacement, deep cycle 150$ +

OR Interstate MTP-65

30 months free replacement, high-crank battery, 89.99 depending on distributor.

Compare the AH from the yellow top to an MTP, then compare the warranty.. Is it worth it?

my 2c. sorta.

I kind of agree, I bought a yellow top about 2K miles ago because my factory one crapped out completely. I expected alot more out of this battery. I guess the main thing I like about it is I can completely drain it and charge it back up and its like new... Plus it has 900 CCA which is nice but with my system on and my key in the accesory position with the engine off it drains this battery in no time... Literally about 20 minutes and it will barely play.

That sounds like a crapped out yellow top Nex.

Go get it load tested, if its still under warranty then get that thing switched out. It shouldn't go down on you THAT quick.

I work at a battery distro, I've had more troubles with yellow and red top optimas than any other brand of just plan ole' wet-lead acid batteries. But I've never had a problem with the optima blue top marine deep cycles.. go figure right?
