I was just thinking the other day that there doesnt seem to be much difference in terms of room between a super cab and super crew . Sure you have normal doors in a crew cab, but look how much smaller the front door is? So you pay an extra thousand or so for normal doors? Ive heard someone say that you get 6 inches, but with the doors I think Ford made it an optical illusion.

What do you guys think?

 

The Supercrew cab is larger by 6 inches as I remember, and the smaller front doors are an advantage, as far as I'm concerned.

Parking in the garage, or in a parking lot, the small doors are much easier to open, without getting close to whatever is next to you.

If you don't carry people in the back seat often, and you want the large doors, get the Supercab.

 

The doors are the same size. Sit in the back seat of the screw and then sit in the back seat of a scab.... then tell me the difference. The seat is nicer, it is full size and there is more leg room in the screw.There is also a flip down armrest in the screw rear seat. plus you dont have to open one door the gain access to the rear door. If you have to haul people regularly then the screw is the way to go. It has just as much room inside as my Expedition did.

 

The front doors on a Screw are not the same size as the front doors on a Scab.

 

Only in Lariats and King Ranches, which is still an option.

I've a couple of both Crews and Supercabs. I don't think I could ever go back to a Scab after having 2 Screws in a row. Way to many advantages for me. Its worth the extra $$.

 

Although I do like the look of Scabs, I think the Screw looks much better! Also, makes it easier for my tator tots (kids) to get in with their own doors. Naturally, the Screw seems like it has a lot more room in the back vs. the Scabs.

 

If you plan on carring passengers in the back on an on going basis, I would buy the supercrew.
I have had passengers in the back of my supercab, its ok for short trips but becomes uncomfortable for them on longer trips. Since my kids are in high school and drive their own trucks, I have no need for the crew.

 

It's all going to depend on who, if anyone, is going to be in the back seats. I'm 6'1 and when I sit in a supercab, it's very uncomfortable. I can sit in the back seat of my supercrew with room to spare. If the people in the back aren't very big, then a supercab should do. The extra 6 inches in the supercrew is really alot though. And yes the front doors on a supercab are longer than the supercrew.

 

I got a scab, but wish I had gone for the screw. It's just more practical, except for the bed length.

The longer front doors are nice if you sit far back in the seat. Also, I'ver never had any problems with 4 6-foot plus passengers in my Scab. If you opt for the scab, make sure it'll fit in your garage since it is actually longer than the screw.

I love my supercrew. I took a road trip back in November with 3 of my buddies. One of them around 6'4" and he rode in the back and was more than comfortable. With the supercrew, you do not have that "we can't take the truck cause no one can sit in the back".

 

I had a supercrew a few years back and loved the space inside but hated the 5 ½ foot bed. I now have the supercab for 2 reasons. 1) my last kid is almost out of school and when she is gone, I will not need the extra space in the back seat. However, I still want some space to lock up stuff, if needed. 2) I wanted the larger bed (6 ½ ) to hall stuff. The overall wheelbase is about the same with the s-crew 5.5 bed and the s-cab 6.5 bed. So you neither gain or loose advantage there. One additional thing, my wife hates the half doors. It is a little hard to get stuff in and out if you are in a small space, like a parking lot, through the half doors because you have to have the front door open to open the back.

It all comes down to preference!

 

Not entirely true, you can get a scab with 5.5 bed (133" Wheel Base) a scab with a 6.5 (145" WB)a screw with a 5.5 (139" WB) and a screw with a 6.5 (150" WB) and also a scab with an 8' (163" WB)

 

The only reason I went with the SCab is because in 2004, you couldn't get the 6.5' bed with the SCrew. That is, without going up to the F-250. But recently, I have had serious considerations about trading in the 2004 for a new SCrew with the 6.5' bed.
