Configuring Factory Ford Navigation System

Hi, I recently installed a Ford Navigation system into my 2006 Ford F150 FX4. I plugged it in and everything worked great, no additional programming needed. Well, I bought 4 more off eBay for some of my customers, I'm a Salesperson at Steve Baldo Ford in Niagara Falls, NY, that were 2007 F150 takeouts. It seems they weren't takeouts as there is no configuration data in them. I got the As Built Data of a vehicle with a factory nav and had one of the techs try to upload it into one of the installed eBay units and he couldn't get it to show as a programmable module. How do I get the nav units programmed? Thanks for the help.

I doubt it will work, since the '06 doesn't have references for MLP, vehicle speed, nor an input from the GPS antenna.

If it were me, I'd try manually ID'ing the vehicle with IDS using the tear tag off an '07 truck, then trying to program your 2006 using 2007 information. Might get module/VIN mismatch doing this, or IDS may not communicate with the head unit, but it's worth a shot.

The unit that went into my 2006 worked great, the other 4 units that I'm having a problem with I installed into 2007 Lariats. The nav units themselves work fine, give directions fine, radio and sat functions good. In the diagnostic screen on mine all the options are set. In the other ones they say unconfigured, so the functions like the dimmer don't work when the headlights turn on.

they show 2477 (module configuration failure), but I think thats because they are not configured.

Okay, with everything hooked up, pull the fuse for the audio unit and wait about five minutes. Reinstall the fuse, then try again with As Built.

Do you think that will clear the B2477 code? It's tough because I have to bribe a tech to look at it and get the vehicle in too. Thanks for your help.

Not sure. I've ran into B2477 codes before while doing PMI, most commonly in '03+ Navigators for whatever reason. Removing power from the module temporarily has seemed to work for me.

Give Mark a call from the thread below. I just purchased an 07 Nav unit out of an F150 from him for my 06 Lariat. He had to reprogram it to work with my steering wheel controls and adjust the EQ curve to suit my speaker setup! He's awesome to work with and goes out of his way to make you happy! I will always put him at the top of my list for future audio mods!

We also carry the ford siruis tuner to go with the ford nav as well.

Sorry EtniesRIT I missed this post, and thanks rms8 for the props. EtniesRIT I have a configuration tool to program those radios to do anything you need. The illum control can be configured to match all the different vehicles but they are definately different from model to model. For example the explorers are controled by the canbus while the f150 is a variable voltage signal. I should be able to take care of that for you. Give me a buzz on my cell @ 978-815-5111 tommorro after 9:00 (my cell doesnt' work here at home).
