6.5 or 6x8 Components??

I can see from my searches that the consensus is components are the way to go; however I'm still confused on which size to get. Is there really that much improvement in the 6.5's over just putting in a set of 6x8 components? If everyone is using 6.5's, what are you making the adaptor bracket out of? Thanks in advance for your advise. This forum rocks! This is going in a '05 Supercab.

I run 6x8 MB Quarts in my Screw...six of one, half dozen of another as far as what you decide. I'm very happy with the sound I get from mine and not concerned if any issues exist with running eliptical speaker as opposed to round. Just buy quality pieces and you should be fine.

Go with 6.5 components instead of 6x8. The reason is becuase the cone is an equal distance away from the magnet with a 6.5 and isnt with 6x8. If i was going to recomend a component set it would have to be infinity kappa perfect 6.5's they sound extremely clear and loud. and get the off ebay or onlinecarstereo.com, i just purchased an amp from them(onlinecarstereo.com) cheapest price around, great brand new product, and extremely fast shipping.

I previously had a set of Alpine Type S 6x8 components. They sounded ok, but not great. I recently upgraded to a set of DLS 6.5 components. And wow, what a difference! I know the DLS is superior to the Alpine Type S, but I also believe the round speaker is better than the oval. Sounds incredible!

Oh yeah, I made the adapter plate myself, using 3/4" MDF (just use the factory speakers as a template). I also had to do a little trimming of the door panel, but nothing major.

Go Compono

I would go with the conponent speakers, to me they just provide better high-end sound and are much more crisp.
