Laptops and trucks

I got a GPS modual for my laptop that actually works pretty good.
My wife and are are planning a trip to Fort smith Arkansas from Temecula California in June. What I am looking for as a way to mount my laptop in my truck and still have room for a front seat passenger. While the truck is in motion the passenger will will be operating the laptop when ever necessary. Does anyone have any recommendations? some pics would really be cool. A semi permanent mount would be perfect( one I don't have to take out every time a passenger is in the truck but at the same time I can easily remove it should i have the need.)

Question gps module?

rdsii,

What kind of GPS module did you get for your laptop? Is it easy to use? I'd like to get a GPS, but not sure which one to buy. The laptop module sounds like a better option, if it works well.

Thanks for the info....:santa:

M wife got microsoft streets and trips 2007 that comes with a GPS modual on sale for 74.99 At fry's electronics in Escondido California. It works pretty good.
its very accurate as near as I can tell. I don't have another one to compare it to. You do have to lug a laptop around in your vehicle though. Since a decent self contained GPS will cost you a few hundred dollars its worth the trade off.

This one looks pretty good, and it's only $43 shipped.

I looked at the cheap eBay laptop stand when I noticed that all it is made of is iron pipe and a flexible conduit to go around it. Instead I spent a few more dollars and got a more adjustable stand.

I got this off eBay too but I think its not a bad deal.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Laptop-mount-aut...QQcmdZViewItem

The only thing wrong with it is that the upright bar sits even with the seatframe rail when installed infront of the passenger seat.

This puts the laptop at a great spot for the driver but not so great spot for the passenger and the large **** on top sits right at the passeners knees.

It needs to be attached to the centerseat bolts but the floorpan and the stand won't really accomidate for it. I may end up getting a mount I can just drill attach to the floor with and not have to worry about being in the way of the passenger.

I linked another (well known) OEM option Jotto and another thread discussion on the following:

As for the eBay version linked above, the cup holder mount option looks interesting, but I think it would get in the way and become annoying when not in use.
