how far do those factory fender flares stick out?

I went up to Big Bear Mt yesterday and my truck looks like I went mud boggin'. The new tires stick out about 1 1/2" so after yesterday I'm thinkin' I might need some fender flares. I don't like the look of the Bushwackers though and haven't looked for others yet. I want to keep the truck looking clean and simple.

 

Not far at all.... I havent measured but i would guess around 1/2 "

 

The factory fx4 flares are more cosmetic, they don't much if anything for keeping mud off the side of the truck

 

PS: Lariats have painted fender flares.

I have an FX4 with true blue ptm Lariat flares. Also have pics of the stock textured ones in my gallery

On a side note i just purchased the PTM door handles and will be getting them painted sometime in January

 

where did you get the flares?

 

Don't FX4's have painted flares as well, at least some of them? I have been looking at one fro my roomate at a dealer here and it has the grey painted flares, its a new 06' model. Just curious.

 

I bought black OEM used Lariat flares from a guy on ebay named PARTZWAY for about $130 shipped. I then had a body shop paint them true blue and i put them on.
FYI: lariat, KR and FX4 have the holes from the factory and the flares are interchangable. The only other part i had to buy was the christmas tree plugs (box of 25 for $4). All 4 flares take 23 of them..
