12v switched power under drivers side dash?

Anyone know a good place to pick up switched power under the DRIVERS side dash? I'm wiring up a switch so I can turn the backup camera on my Z1 on manually. This is on an '06 Fx4 SCrew.

Thanks!

You can pick up a 12v switched power source from the back side of your cig lighter or radio harness. The steering column is a PITA. You can also use the cig lighter for light dimming power source if you ever need that also.

True. I found that out when I was using my Sat radio. I like a swiched power source so it will go off when the key is off. No such luck on my 05.

What kind of satellite radio you talking about? Like the ones where it plugs into the back of your aftermarket stereo? Or the portable ones? I have one that plug into the back of my Alpine deck and I believe I used the YELLOW wire which is always hot.

I have a portable one. I used it in my Dodge work truck that has one of it's many power outlets switched. I also use it in my 05 Supercrew. Now my work truck is an 05 XL, so I go back and forth between trucks.

Wonder how difficult it would be to take one of the outlets and run power from a switched power source?

If your looking for a 12 volt switched behind your radio I believe the green/pink wire going into your headunit is switched. To make sure you can search "12 volt switched radio" in the 2004+ forum. I hooked my Xm up to this and it works like a charm.

Dang and I had to do it the hard way and run a wire from the drivers b/pillar down under the dash and to the pass side fuse box.
