Update on Ford Fusion key use? & 17" 7 lugs

I've been reading the threads on the Fusion Key conversion on the 04 F150 to eliminate the key fob. I e-mailed a vendor and was told that they have not got it to work. The key is also $85. Any new info? Cheaper key availability?
Can someone give me a link for aftermarket wheels for 17" 7 lug heavy payload wheels on my 04 4x2 longbed?
This is a great site and community!
Thanks,

As far as wheels go I think American Racing has a few 7 lug wheels.

I got my Fuson key on ebay, I think it was 41 or 45 w/shipping. You program the key the same as the owners manual says to. The same for the remote portion of the key, just follow the owners manual for programming a remote and it will work. My dealer cut mine for free. Shop for it on ebay.

In other Fusion key posts, there was talk of the key going in and rubbing the key housing on the column. What's your experience with that?

It does rub a little but not bad. It rubs on the rubber around the key hole. I can't foresee it causing any problems.

I think this is the correct number.......

6N7Z-15K601-A

The number ending in "B" does not come up in a search.

I don't know you would need to try it. The only real difference is the bow of this key is larger than the stock key. If it fits and turns it should work.

I've had my key for 6 or 7 months now - no issues. Doesn't rub, doesn't bind and works like the factory key.

Ford wouldn't cut it - he told me I would have to be charged for a key...so I went to a big locksmith and he charged me like 2 bucks. He said now that he knows those keys work - he will sell them.

Thanks everyone. I ordered the key from fordparts.com they listed it at $39.95 +$9.95 shipping. Local dealer quoted me $85+ I hope it's the same one. Of all the part #s I've seen online the middle section of-15K601- is always the same.
I assume the various differences refer to Year, Make(Lincoln,Ford,Mercury) and application. We have an excellent old-time locksmith locally and he'll cut it for me I'm sure. I'll update when I get the key and set it up.
