Unhappy Oil Consumption

Hello everyone...
First i just want to say thank you everyone, This site has help me in so many different ways!!
I've asked about this before, Just want to know if anyone has any other suggestions.
I have a 2005 f150 5.4L supercrew with 22,200 miles.
This truck has consume oil since day one. Had a oil consumption test done at the dealer. The truck used 1 quart of oil in 1500 miles. the dealer said FORD considers this normal use. the dealer has been great in trying to help me. The truck continues to use this much oil.
The dealer change the PCV valve and that didn't help.
I am going in for a oil change soon and would like to know if anybody has any suggestions on what to say to the dealer, or if there is something else i could do.

i qt. in 1500 miles doesn't sound normal to me. I have an '05 5.4 and have had '02 5.4 and a '98 4.6 and I have never lost any oil between changes. You should try a different dealer and see what they say. Bare minimum keep track of all your records.

Why go in for an oil change, the way it's going through oil it should be consistently fresh. Seriously my 5.4 goes 5000 km (3000 miles) without losing a drop. Are you seeing any blue smoke? If it smokes when you start it it's probably valve seals. Smoking under load (hold the brake and push the throttle with it in gear) would suggest rings.

My 2006 5.4 3v uses about 1 qt every 3000 miles. I don't consider this excessive, although 1 qt every 1500 miles does seem excessive. It is possible for it to use oil and not blow blue smoke. Keep very accurate records of oil consumption and keep dealer informed about this throughout. They should then be able to help you after tracking the consumption for a little while.

1 quart per 1500 miles is a bit high. Ford specifies an acceptable loss of 1 quart per 3000 miles, I think. I make it every 3K in my '04 without losing a drop. If your dealer is stonewalling you, go further up the rung and get Ford Customer Service involved, and/or try another dealer. Your engine really needs to be monitored and documented for oil consumption.

I think that they spec 1 Qt. every 1,000 and above miles as normal. Although I wouldn't call that close to normal, they set the limits.

are you serious!? at 7 qt volume and a Ford recommended 5k miles between changes, is what you're saying is that one would be 'in spec.' with a up to a 5 qt potential loss?? ( simple math says that you've got 2 quarts left if thats the case...)
if i misunderstood your post, i apologize i've had a reallly long day

I'll try to find Ford's allowable consumption chart ing my manual.
Think of this for a moment.......

The average $3.5M aircraft engine burns about .5 qts per hour.

That's a lot of oil, and far from normal. I'll try to find the Ford specs too while I'm at work today.

I thought about it.
My conclusion is a 5.4L gas engine is not in any way similar to a jet engine.

I think that is the for most manufacturers (at least American). I know several people with GM vehicles and that is what they have been told for many years.

My 5.4 doesn't use a drop of oil but my 98 4.6 uses a quart at around 3,000 miles. It has 103,000 miles on it but it also did in its youth and has not changed.

That's what I've heard, I still don't agree.

I had an '02 Acura ( piece of crap btw ) and it burned oil from day one. The acura dealers also stated 1 litre per 1000 km or 1 qt per 1000 miles is normal use. They wouldn't touch that car for the oil consumption problem.
