prerunning

So this weekend I went to the dunes to try out my new coilovers. They worked great on the super washboard sand highway but I was worried about my ball joints the whole time because the UCA havnt come in yet. My question is when I got done I felt my shocks and serously burned my hand. I couldnt touch the shock body for even a second they were that hot. Does anyone elses coilovers get that hot and is that bad for them like now I need to change the oil or seals or anything? I email Donahoe but havnt gotten anything back yet. Also is there any compines that make better LCA's? I want to have a full built suspension w/o the JD fab 5k long travel. Some pics later when I get hom from work to load them. Also no CV bind even at full travel

Yep if you are planning on running your truck invest in some resivor coilovers.. When your shocks get hot they start to fade, thus reducing your performance..

As for the LCA, not that i have seen... Sorry.. For the UCA go with the Total Chaos uppers..

What desert were running your truck in??

Oh yea, and your not really going to be able to peice together a full built suspension.. As the only way your going to get the strong boxed UCA and Spindles are from a fab shop..

And dont forget about your rear end.. You can have a $10K front end and still not be able to keep up becaues your rear is hoping all over the place..

I was just out at the dunes and they got that hot. DR says the 2.5 shock body should keep them cool. I also emailed them about an add on rezzy but no response yet. when I say built i dont mean desert runner just soming that I know isnt going to fail on me like stock ball joints and I allready have Total Chaos UCA comming they just werent in yet for the dune trip. also bypass shocks are just to to make them ride better on little stuff and still handle the big stuff

What desert did you go out to? I also have the Total Chaos arms and I love the peace of mind I have when I am offroad. As far as a replacement lower arm you arent going to find one on the market, you will have to go to a fab shop and have them fab you one up. Your better off going with the JD Fab kit.

Your looking at more than $5K after installation and other things.. such as extended halfshafts and shocks/fenders ect.

Yes they are going to get hot.. Im sure there is nothing wrong with your shocks.. If that what your trying to figure out.. The Replacement Coilovers were just not designed for long offroad desert running..

Thats what I bought them for!? Why would donahoe make an off road shock that couldnt stand up to hard offroading? These things wernt cheap to not be able to handle what a stock truck can put out.

I believe DR makes though replacement shocks for people who want better offroad ability under certain circumstances.. Such as better ability to get out to your camping site in the desert... Going out hunting ect...

Those replacement coilovers were not designed for using your truck as a race truck.. Or going out to the desert to just offroad your truck..

However, if you were happy with the performance you had, then cool. By all means keep doing it.. Im just stating that if your looking to be able to run your truck more, you probably got the wrong coilovers.
