Performance throttle body?

I do believe i am going to have to change my throttle body and throttle body sensor. Is there an after market performance throttle body or should i just stick with OEM. Also is this a job i need to have done at the ford dealership or is it something that i can do. (I am out of warrranty) If it's a job that I can do, what does it consist of?

Why do you think you need a new throttle body?

These trucks don't use a conventional throttle body and I don't think they even have a TPS (throttle position sensor). There is a sensor on the accelerator pedal that senses the position of the pedal and then an actuator on the throttle body adjusts the throttle body valve.

Thats wierd I would have thought vehicles with the drive by wire would have a TPS of some sort.

The pedal has 3 sensors (APP1, APP2, APP3) and there is a TP sensor.

I changed my TB for a ported & polished ford unit. I put the new one on, bypassed the coolant line on the back, since the bracket was different. Wasnt too hard to change out. Its kind of a pain when did the Plenum at the same time. b.c there are two of the bolts that are right up against the firewall, and kind of under the lip of the engine bay.

The 5.4 3v does not have a plenum, it sits directly on the intake manifold (roughly in the center).

Is there an individual sensor on the throttle body or is the the sensor part of the motor/actuator that moves the throttle butterfly?

Individual. Motor is separate.

TSB 05-14-4

6L2Z.9B989.A is the part number for the TPS you would need. It also states in the TSB you would get a reflash, seeing as you have the edge i would buy the TPS.
