I know that a month or so ago a couple of you guys were swapping out the flow -thru center console lids on your FX4's for the Lariat version. I am now thinking about doing the same thing. I am assuming that the Lariat lid is leather wrapped, correct? Also does it have padding unlike the hard stock FX4 lid? Also which place had the best price?

I swapped out my hard FX4 lid for the L one which is padded and leatherette I believe. Much happier with it and I ordered it thru fordparts.com

Yes the second skin is like dynamat but better and cheaper.

 

Lariat lid feels a LOT better than the FX4 one. It is not leather though, it is that immitation "plastic leather" with a lot of padding under it. It looks a lot better too. I got mine through a ford dealer but I don't remember exactly how much it was, or the part number.....something like 60-70 bux.
