Fender flares???

I have a 2006 f150 supcab and am installing a 6"fabtech lift on it with some 35" bfg mud terrains. What is everyones opinion on rock slinging, am i going to need to get some fender flares to save my paint, and if this is the case, what ones do you reccommend, could i go factory FX4 or what should i do, i want to try to keep my paint looking nice. Thank you

A lot will depend on the width and backspacing on your wheels. A set of flares would look good. Personally, I think the smoother style (ATS?) look better than the "bolted on" look of the Bushwacker flares.

I have to agree! Also, painted flares look more finished then leaving them unpainted.

I am probably going to go with the painted ATS flares on my 06 XLT 4x4 Screw.

Lariat flares are smooth and painted, FX4 flares are black, textured and not painted.

ATS flares arnt really an improvement for rock slinging. They are very thin and are mostly for looks. Buchwaker does make some useful flares. And backspacing definitly will make a difference. I have 4.5" backspacing and I do get a lot of water, mud, sand slinging up. I havent gotten aan scratches or anything though. I like the stance it has but i might eventually get some flares. Id wait once you get it lifted and see how you like it.

You might want to check out Bushwacker's extend a flares. I've got them, they come black, but you can paint any color. They are smooth and extend out about 2.5 - 3 inches.

Get the Lariat flares.

I had a lot of problems with my 2004 F-150 but I didn't have nerf bars. Now with my 2006, it seems like the nerf bars take all the rocks instead of my paint.

awesome, i have the nerf bars so hopefully that will help, and i am using the OEM rims with a 12.5" wide tire, so im trying to decide on the flares, i have a black truck, so the FX4 flares wouldnt be bad because they are black, but i think the painted may look a little cleaner. I guess you are all right, i should wait until i get the tires on and see the stand and then decide on flares, thank you all for your responses

do they make any kind of flares for a flare side? I'm tossed between the fabtech and the skyjacker. Which kit was the one that Stacey installed on Trucks!?

Flares

I am not sure what kind he did on the flareside truck. Possibly Bushwaker. Mine are for a styleside.

Those are OEM flares which are only for looks and aren't going to help with wider wheels/tires. I think he is asking for are flares that stick out 1-1/2" or so.
