Thinkin about trade have quest?

I have an ext cab stx and the 4.6 is killin me.I want more motor and with my xplan I can pick up a new 06 F250 4x4 super cab with a very good list of options for a bit over $30K.I would like to be a little less on price but I am unsure if I could live with a F150 FX4 reg cab.I sat in a reg cab and it seemed the door pillar is next to my head and would make it hard to see and get in and out.
Any opinions on this?Reg cab guys...hows life with the smaller doors?
How is $30K for a new XLT F250 super cab 4x4 best cloth seats,tow pack,upfit switchs,slide rear window,power every thing,delux mirr pack,advance sec group?

My 05 stx 4x4 has 9K on it so its like brand new.The 4.6 is just not enuf any more. The new boat is a bit heavy I guess but it pulls ok.Stops it great just seems to have a hard time off the line and gettin up boat ramps.

I think that $30K is a bit too much for a F250 ext.cab 4X4 XLT, 5.4L/torqshift. The reason I say this is because when my father bought is truck brand new, 05 F350 DRW, ext. cab, FX4, 6.0L PSD/torqshift XLT (fully loaded, power seat, up fitter swtiches, delx. security group, ect) tow boss, camper package, snowplow package. He paid right around $37,500, and once you take away the PSD you are already down to around $32,000. And this was without other insentives or pricing plans.

Last I looked the dealers around here (western wisconsin) had priced hanging from the mirrors on trucks like you are describing right around the 27-28,000 range and ones with the PSD for 32-33000.

Granted prices do change from area to area, but 30,000 seems real steep for a F250 ext 4X4 with a gasser.

Who said it was a gasser? I didnt read that anywhere. Not to mention, the 5.4L is not enough engine for the F250. It hardly gets the job done in a F-150, much less a 3/4 ton truck. I think you'd be shooting yourself in the foot if you did not get the V10 or diesel engine. Go used, you dont lose so much money.

It is Gas 5.4 it has fx4 and the whole deal but its an XLT not KR or any thing. No V10 trucks any place around me I can find.I would love the PSD but its going to push the price in my area too hi for me.This is priced low comp to sim trucks in area by 2-3 grand.I like my F150 but the 4.6 was a very bad idea I think. It would be ok in a 2x4 work truck but the loss of power via the T case and all just kills it.I do have a xcal and all that stuff and it helped but I still think the 4.6 is to small for a big *** 4x4 truck. In a mustang it works great not as good as the old 5.0 IMHO but works well.I hate getting on I95 around here the truck just cant seem to pull its self into traffic like I think it should.I traded a (forgive me) 97 Chevy reg cab 4x4 steside with a 5.7 on this and the chevy would eat this F150 for lunch and then some.It pulled so much harder it feels like the F150 has half a motor comp to my old chevy.I just dont want to get back into the same situation with a new truck.I dont need a truck to run like a sports car but it has to be able to get out of its own way.

Never settle! Personally, I'd wait for the new motor that's replacing the 6.0L. A lot of people are real unhappy with this motor. Another option is, buy a used F150 and with the money you save you can drop a S/C in it and not have to ever worry about not having enough power off the line.

I agree with the others....do not get a superduty with a 5.4 if better performance is what you are after. Even with 4.10 gears they are pretty weak.

I know that when a man gets the itch to sell or trade, he is usually gonna do it, reasons be danged, but consider just putting 4.10 or even lower gears under your truck. That is assuming you have the stock tires. 4.10 gears would give you more 'boost' than a 5.4 with 3.55. Or even go to 4.36 gears.
You already have a tuner so no problems with the speedo.
500 bucks an axle is lots cheaper than a trade in.
The problem in power with these trucks is not engine horsepower, especially if you have a tuner-catback. The problem is that they are geared for CAFE reasons.

A 15% (3.55 to 4.10) increase in power across the board is pretty substantial.

Since these trucks are too tall geared now, you wouldn't lose drivability.

Or if you really wanted to get serious, jump to 4.36 for a 23% jump.

I was at my dealership today and fell in love with this black crew cab 4x4 outlaw edition 20inch wheels black leather, not to crazy about the red leather seat inserts though. But any way it had a 6.0 Diesel which was OK IMO. I know its not a race car but I was not impressed with the way the truck pulled from a dead stop. Like out into traffic. Once the rpm's came up and the turbo kicked in it was all good but it seemed like forever before that happened. Then I drove a Lariet with the V-10 an was grinning from ear to ear when I stomped it. One again I know its not a race car but I do like to get some *** haulin moments out of my tucks. I just dont know if spending the extra 5100.00 is worth it in the diesel when you get roughly 100 more ft. pd's of torqe and dont get the ponies the V-10 has . Now if I were pulling a 12000 pound trailer up hill for miles on end I would consider the diesel, but for towing 8000 lbs or so I would take the gas any day JMO.

I can contain my self and wait on a trade I am not 100% set on it.My truck has 255/70/17 tires stock and I went to a 285/70 toyo at and a 2" autospring.I do have a 373 Limited slip rear so atleast its not a 355 rear.If any one made a charger for the 4.6 I would charge it and leave well enuf alone.I wanted a floor shifted 4x4 and no carpet that is why I ended up with an STX and the 4.6.If I were to get a 5.4 F150 I would want the same floor shifter for the 4x4 and no carpet and I just dont think you can get that combo.I am not into 20" rims and such the tires cost too much and if I have rims that big they would have to stay clean and we know how the brakes are on these trucks.I am more about the nuts and bolts of a truck not the looks so a more basic line is fine with me.

You should consider waiting for the new SueprDuty, or the new F-150 coming soon. Otherwise you'll be right back where you started - wanting more.
