Cooler -- slightly. Not significantly. Today, however, was significantly cooler and I got 18.3 today. Lots of stop and go today -- it rained, everyone forgot how to drive. I watched a Geo Tracker in front of me go into the median attempting to dodge a Lincoln... if it had hit it, I would've stuck around to tell the cop about how STUPID that IDIOT was driving... he was tailgating me before he almost hit the Lincoln... weaving in and out.

Nothing scientific about my method... I'm just tapping 'reset' as I'm running down the 'on' ramp and rolling in at around 67 mph. *shrugs*

Geese, I really need to slow down. I've been doing 80 mph b/c my drive is so long and I'm trying to cut down the overall time. There have also been a few frustrated jabs of the peddle to go from 50 to 80 rather fast when getting around "slow movers" in the passing lane. But I usually still get around 14 mpg for the tank.

This week is REALLY bad though. For whatever reason I'm down around 12.2 mpg for the tank. I think it also has to do with us switching to winter gas up here as it's been getting down around freezing at night.

Hopefully the AF1, Xcal2 and maf cleaning will help a little bit. (and me slowing down and not being so hard on the truck )

If I run around 75-80 mph, I typically pull down to around 15 to 15.5. Get out the pedal, crank the music, and enjoy the drive!

So I'm going to buy some of the CRC cleaner on my way home.

I was looking at the MAF which is a car, which has a silver side and a plastic side. Then on the silver side there is a small opening in the corner.

Do I spray that small opening and nothing else, or the entire thing, or the entire thing but the small opening?

Well I took the connector off the MAF sensor. Then unscrew the MAF sensor and pull it out. The entire thing was probably 1.5 inches wide, 1/4 inch thick, and probably 3 inches long. One side is completely silver with a little open space on one of the corners. Then the other side of the MAF sensor was a darker color, kind of like dark grey plastic.

Spray inside the opening. If you look inside the opening, you'll see some small, fine wires with resistors. Do NOT touch the wires; but try to spray them clean and then let it dry.

In that open space, there are a couple of wires. Those wires are what you spray. Let them drip dry, do not touch them. Those wires record the air readings.

Cool, I'll spray those wires briefly at 4 to 6 inches and let it drip dry before putting it back in.

The chemical degreaser in this particular electrical parts cleaner is Trichlor... it's some potent stuff and the focal point of many environmental cleanups!

The great thing about this stuff.... spill it on a solid slab of concrete and it'll work down through the slab into the ground and, eventually, in to the groundwater...

Moral of the story, use it per the directions. I'm not a tree hugger by any stretch but, this is an ugly chemical... Just a FYI.

Thank you for the FYI, as I didn't know that about this cleaner. Every little bit matters and we have a well.
