No to the 02 and no to the belt. I've only heard the 'chirp' from the belt once and that was when I was, shall we say, 'opening it up'. I may go to a gatorback if and when I need to change belts or notice a more pronounced chirp. Until then though...

Oct. 18th eh? I'm the 21st.
Hey RP,

Well what do you know, brilliant minds are born close together date wise!

I think I'll hold off on the O2 sensors and Gatorback belts. I guess I'll need to buy some of that stuff to do the MAF sensor cleaning since I'm at 20K miles.

I want to buy and I'm sooooo close but for some reason I'm getting this odd nervous feeling that I only feel when I have to go to the dentist for surgury or something. Maybe it's fear of the unknown?

Ok, 2 dumb questions. How often should the MAF be cleaned and what is the process to do so?

So RP the consensus is you clean the 04+ the same way you do the 98-03?

or should i refer to different instructions to do mine? ime at 35,000 and havent touched it, put the K&N in about 7-8k ago.

Just buy it. Come on man. LOL! I mean, if it's going to be such that you can still put food on the table and gas in the tank (and clear the rest of the bills) then it's worth it.

I'm no expert here. In fact, I'm not the one to be answering this... but, my opinion, based on what I've read and what Quintin has said (who I trust VERY much when it comes to service on our trucks etc as he always has great input from a Ford-Trained professional standpoint) is that you drop a few droplets in there over the elements and allow it to air dry. *shrugs* Not sure if that's like the 98-03 as I never did it on my 01.

Again though, I'm not the one to be answering this question... I'll leave it to someone who is more versed in MAF and our trucks... I know that the MAF is a VERY critical part of the entire circuit and I don't want to be be the one to tell you to zig when you should zag...

Not a few droplets, I say maybe a 1-2 second burst of cleaner. Don't soak it down like you're painting graffiti.

Roger that... that's actually what I did - a short but indirect blast... misquote on my part.

Yeah I can still pay the bills and save for the house and put food on the table. I'm just being a spending wimp. LOL, alright I'll do it tomorrow. I can't take the peer pressure!

I'll at least try to tomorrow. One of our firms partners asked me to go play golf with him at Hazeltine National!

This is such a sweet and expensive course...not to mention incredibly hard...glad he's paying though...

I'll gladly take your place if you don't want to go...

Of course though, we have Valhalla - Home of the 2008 Ryder Cup. I had a tee-time there last year with a buddy through a buddy of a second cousin's buddy who was thrice-removed (call it luck)... but we got rained out. I still shed a tear over that on occasion.

Ordered it yet?

On topic, what brand of electronic contact cleaner did you get Brad?

CRC Lectra Clean

Found it at Lowes -- by accident -- and went ahead and bought it. $7 I think.

Find me if you head up this way... of course, that's a little ways off.

Nope didn't order yet! I didn't have time this morning and I didn't get back till late. I'll give TP a call tomorrow morning and hopefully I can speak with Mike. I'll do a little smooth talking/begging to see if I can get it by my birthday on Oct 18th. I know it's a fat chance, but what the heck, it's still worth a try.

Just made a note to buy some of that cleaner.

I'm probably just imagining this but, I noticed that I got *much* better gas mileage this morning on the way in to work.

Granted, I encounter a lot of stop and go sometimes and I only had a little bit of that this morning... I typically stay around 17mpg with the minimal amount of city driving (mainly highway) trip that I have each morning (22 miles to my office)...

This morning, I held right at 21.2 (yes, twenty one point two) MPG for the full trip into work. In all honesty, there was VERY little different from my normal commute...

The trip back from work came in at 19.8 MPG.

Unique numbers for me... I stay out of the pedal during this commute and hang right at about 67 mph both ways... the only difference that I can place is that I cleaned the MAF... Seems too significant of a change to me though...
