How will the f150 stack up against the GMT900

1. HAS ENOUGH POWER FOR 16,000 total wieght. more might be nice, but running from NM to OR across the rockies the whole way wasn't an issue.
2. IS UNDER SPRUNG. To really use even its printed maximums you need aux springs of some kind. 11K lbs of towing requires suspension much stiffer and thus usualy limited to F250.
3. IS LACKING TIRES. The OEM rubber even in the LT tires is designed for being cheap, quiet, cheap, decent riding... did I mention cheap? No where in that is running the kind of construction you need for heavy work. IE stiff sidewalls, stiff sidewalls, stiff sidewalls. again See F250 or above for properly equipped towing vehicles.
The F150 is geared to be a CITY TRUCK that if pressed hard can get the job done. There are tradeoffs that CAN NOT BE AVOIDED that limit the top end of safely loading it. Its not about frames, HP, etc. The F150 is trying to make the dude who uses it as a luxury car that can haul garden supplies happy while keeping the ability to work. To keep the former happy they have to limit its ablity to do the latter.

^^^This dude obviously has no idea what he is talking about^^^
2007 Sierra 1500
367 Hp
375 ft lb torque
10,500 trailering cap.
I read somewhere 5 speed auto. (can't find it though)
Active fuel management system
On Star safety
GMC isn't resting on their laurels by any means. This truck will steal some market share from Ford

Nope, sorry...6 speed only on the Denali:
"The engines are backed by proven Hydra-Matic electronically controlled automatic transmissions, including the proven 4L60 four-speed automatic, high-capacity 4L70 four-speed automatic and a new 6L80 six-speed with the Sierra Denali’s 6.2L engine."

These trucks will definately outclass the F150 in most measures. I have to say the F150 at this point is definately the better looking truck but I have yet to see the 900's in person. I think the Chevrolet is the better looking of the two, reminds me of the Silverado's from the late 70's and 80's. Also from the pictures anyway the interior appears to be alot nicer than the F150. Also it has the option of side airbags as well as curtain airbags which are not available on the F150. Also I believe it will have some sort of a stability program and don't forget Onstar. I have heard that by 2008 all GMT900 trucks will use the 6 speed auto which is an impressive transmission in the Escalade.
I believe it still does not use a fully boxed frame or through welded crossmembers like the F150 but tow capacity and payload should be right up with the F150. You have to remember this is an all new design and if it is not immensly better than a three year old design then there is something wrong with GM engineering.
This and the new Tundra will provide fierce competition to the F150. Although I think the Tundra is hideous in pictures anyways. Would I trade my truck for any of these trucks. Definately not, but it is a good idea to keep an eye on other choices in the market. My .02 cents anyway.

Look to pay extra for the 6.0L 367/375 engine...
Ford set the bar pretty high with the '04+ F150's. It took GM 3 years but it looks like they have finally caught up. The next gen Ram will be out in '08 with minor changes for '07 to stay competitive. The new Sierra/Silverado will have a cargo management system that allows you to lock a load ANYWHERE in the box, the best Ford gives right now is a slot for a 2x4. Not to mention other creature comforts both Dodge and GM offer such as a full function transfer case with auto 4 and dual zone climate control, something that Ford doesn't offer----yet. Looks like competition is going to heat up in the truck market, I can't wait to see how Ford responds.
The Ford vs Chevy argument has been going on for years, and it will continue to go on, as long as both companies are in business.
Bottom line: Ford trucks have always been good to me and my family. I have never once, had to walk somewhere, because my truck could not get me there. As long as my Ford trucks continue to be good to me, I will contine to buy them, no matter what GM or Dodge puts in theirs.
