I'd leave the tint on. they might make you take it in for inspection though, then you would be screwed.

 

They are giving me 10 days to take it down to the station to get checked out with the flares and tint off! grrr

 

boy, thats gay. did they say you had to remove the tint on all of your windows or just the front 3?

 

I only have the front two passenger windows tinted at 20% which read 17% on his tint tester. The rest is all stock. Nothing on the windshield either

 

what is the tint law in your state and what did the place where you got the tint put on tell you the tint % was?

 

Sorry to hear about this, it really sucks. What you could do, if you don't have the money or time to the the flares in the 10 days they are going you, is to just put your stocker rims and tires back on if you still have them and then have the cops look at it. As for the tint, the only way that I know of to get it off is a razor blade and a heat gun.

My girlfriends brother is a WI state trooper and everytime that he sees either one of my trucks, he always says something about either the exhaust, window tint, ect. on them and then starts to laugh. But I have never been pulled over for any of them, by a cop anywhere, or atleast not yet!!!

 

I'm glad they dont have any laws about wide tires here . I did however get my first tint ticket the other day. GSP pulled just for tint which is kinda gay IMO. I can see pullin you for sompthin else then givin you the tint ticket but not just for tint. 80 bucks Atleast he didnt notice my entire windshield is tinted 35% though.

 

it probably was a layer of 20 tint, but the factory glass has that layer of smoked glass so its darker then 20, so thats where you got the 17. Makes sense to me

ive already got my second ticket this year and it just came in today in the mail. Ill probably go to court.

 

I live in Cali and haven't been caught for my window tint yet. I get pulled over a lot but mud flaps and fender flares are the only thing I've been told...and lately using my spotlight to find friends @ campgrounds (lame). Dave, did you get a ticket for just tint or flaps, etc?

I have 20% tint and I haven't even been warned so keep that in mind when looking at %'s. I would like darker but I am not one to complain right now.

 

no not because of my truck. one was not stopping at a stop sign and the other was for doing donuts in an intersection
