33" or 35"

I have a '06 Scab, with a 2.5" levling kit.... want to mount new rubber on stock rims, but can't decide between 33's or 35's. Don't want much if any rubbing, but want to fill the wheel well better than the 275 rugged trails that came on it (they s**k). I also can't decide between toyo m/t's or a procomp x-terrain or a mickey t mtz... any help would be good... thanks!

I see in your sig that you are going to be running a plow on your truck. So I would say go with the 33's at the very most. Even though you are just going to be running a light sno-way, the 450ish lbs will still compress the springs enough that I think you will run into all kinds of rubbing issues with the 35's and maybe even have a few with 33's. Have you looked at some 285 BFG A/T's they are a little smaller than the 33 but willl still fill out the wheel wells nice, and you "shouldn't" run into too many clearance problems even with the plow on. Plus BFG A/T's are a darn good tire in the snow and ice, much better than most M/T's. Just my $.02 worth.

I agree. The 285/70-17 and 285/65-18 BFG AT KO's are right at 33 inches tall.

I have a set of 35" Mickey Thompson MTZ on my truck with a 2.5" leveling kit. They rub a little bit when the steering wheel is at full lock, but its not a big deal to me because its easy to avoid.

I have pics of my truck with 33" Nittos and also my new MTZs in my profile if you want to check it out.

I put 33"s on my rig and I wish I would have gone with the 35's now. I like the look of the 35's and would have delt with the little bit of rubbing at full lock...

(that's just my opinion)

33's do fill out the well a little better than stock, I just wish I would have gone 35's.

I was also going to ask if you could post a couple of pics of your truck with the plow mounted? If this is possible, could you also take a couple of measurements on how far the front did drop. I have been looking at getting a plow for one of my trucks, and I am kind leaning towards putting one on my 04. Since plowing with a stick (which my 94 is) gets very old, very fast!

my truck could be the exception but the driver's side tire rubs a tad when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the right.

i will hook-up the plow and shot some pics for ya... i had the plow on my dodge ram 1500, i dropped about 1.5-2" when it is fully raised, but will probably differ with the leveling kit, ford shocks and ford's front set-up. As far as the Sno-way, there is a considerable difference in dip from any other I looked at for my previous truck. The fischer dipped almost 4", plus weighs almost 300lbs more, the western was about the same. The sno-way with the down-pressure system on it beats them all as far as i'm concerned, and i have used almost all the others out there.

i have 33s on my truck with completely stock suspension. i dont have a snow plow but i have diven on some very rough terain and the 33s articulate freely in the fenderwells without any rubbing what so ever. with a leveling kit, i wouldnt think a plow would cause any problem at all. if you want to save some bucks look at the cooper tires i have in my profile. they have a resonable price, look great on this body style, and seem to be wearing well. https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?gnum=7627

I have 35's now and no rubbing after minor trimming. In your case I would go with the 285's BFG KO's. It's still a 33" tire and will look great as well.

Plow is attached...

ok, took a couple days to get some good weather, but here is the 7.5' Snow-way plow on my '06. My truck has a 2.5" leveling kit and has the OEM "upgraded" rugged trail tires on OEM chrome rims. The front end dropped only 3/4" when the plow was raised all the way up, which suprised me as when it was on my '00 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport, it dropped almost 2.5". So... which tire could I get away with.....33" or 35"?
