Ok silly question for some.

What Rear end front end does my 2005 SXT 4x4 have? Is it a Dana 60 What are they? I want to do a gear swap and convert my lug pattern to 8x170 so I can run some wheels I want. I figure custom axles would be the best way to go.

Thanks
Ralph

It would be a Ford 9.75 inch rear end. Not a Dana 60. You would be better off just finding the wheels with the 6.135mm lug pattern.

Why? Because of expense? I will already be in there for the gears

An STX will have an 8.8" axle, only the 5.4 liter trucks get the 9.75".

So what are you planning on doing with the front? SFA swap?

I hope you thought this out because finding the lug pattern to swap that ifs front end diff is going to narrow it quite a bit, mounts will need to be made as well. A SAS is not too far down the path. I would definitely stick with the 6x135 pattern if I was lowered (sas will do you no good).

I have not looked at the front. The rear is easy custom axles are cheap. The front is alittle more difficult. I need to look at the front end. I haven't had the truck long. I guess I could just use wheel adapters though!

I don't see the point, why not just buy wheels for the 6x135 lug pattern?

You're making things way more difficult than they need to be, plus wheel adapters? :santa:
