What I like about my F-150

I am kind of new to this forum and recently purchased an F-150, but I am no stranger to Fords. I have read numerous threads about what people don't like about their F-150's, and I guess this is the place to do it. But, in order to provide equal opportunity I thought it might be interesting to find out what people like about their Ford F-150 Trucks.

I have a 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat so some things might not be the same as yours.

I like the door handles that just pull straight out, it's a door handle and it also opens the door with a single pull, it's not a lever, it doesn’t require you to adjust your hand position, it just opens.

I like the tail gate with the torsion bar that helps you open and close it. Hey I've gotten older, ever little bit helps.

The gages in the Lariat are white face, but at night they turn black when lit up, very cool, but maybe they all do that, don't know.

At three MPH all the doors lock.

There is a little plastic drip pan installed that when changing your oil filter will funnel the oil into your drip pan, nice touch.

The radio sound level increases and decreases depending on vehicle speed.

There is nothing like accelerating a 6000 lb beast, there is something to that, not sure what though, but the 365 foot pounds of torque makes me smile.

The hood has hydraulic dampers that make opening the hood a non event. (Remembering holding the hood open with one hand and fumbling for the prop stick with the other, aka the good old days.)

The effortless to change air cleaner.

When you turn the truck off the radio still plays.

I'll let you guys take over form here.

hah, yeah there sure are a lot of nifty things on these new trucks; especially those of us lucky enough to own a Lariat.

Welcome aboard!

turning black...what? I think the green glow is very nice looking, but the white faces do not change to black.

i like it when i can just drive right over the idiot drivers in my neighborhood. You know...the ones that just STOP in the middle of traffic, don't use their turn signals and simply turn at the last minute. Oh, how 'bout the dumba$$ who pulls out onto a 3 lane road right into your lane when all others are free. Gotta love that one.

I like how girls give me the eye when I drive by them in my truck.... and I think to myself "dammit if I wasn't so old I'd hit that."

i love how the chassis feels so solid. you know your driving a truck in this thing. yet it handles like a sportscar. i can turn 90 degree corners at 80 km/h and not even hear a chirp from a tire. i love how quiet the interior is. absolutly any aftermarket product you can imagine is readily available. about the only thing i dont like is when I haveto fill it up with gas

I have seen it show 21.3 MPG highway average, but you have to drive with your right shoe off to do it.

Don't you just love it when somebody tells you're wrong about something you know is absolutely true.

I thought you meant it would dim the faces like the Navi's/mercedes (I believe) do. I love the dash colors as well, I'm wiring green indicator lights for my e-fan(s) to match the rest of the cluster.

My Dad has an 04 4x4 lariat screw and when he goes on trips to Colorado or Minnesota he gets 17-22MPG freeway everytime. I wish I could try some open freeway every once and a while, lol, but alas I live in San Diego! Only time you can go without braking is after midnight!

One of the things I do to increase MPG is to get the truck up to 45 MPH while at the same time pushing on the pedal as least as possible. It will shift into 4th and RPM's will drop into the 1200 range where It gets the best. If you don't want to be bothered by that routine, just try keeping the RPM's below 2grand.

Yeah mine has never read that low either I'm currently sitting at 18mpg with light city driving to and from work.
