Custom Painted, THEY messed UP, need some help
Maybe on the left coast they aren't well known but here on the east coast their reputation proceeds them.
They are great if you need a quick job on a junker but I would never let them touch a vehicle I really cared about.
Could luck and document everything and every conversation.

(droolssssssss..........) nice ****ing truck.......
Not only was it not prepped correctly, I'm fairly certain that it wasn't painted correctly. I see a lot of plastic and rubber pieces that do exactly what your truck is doing, and it's normally from the lack of a flex agent in the actual paint. These peices can not be painted with the same mixture as the stell. The steel won't flex, so the hardened paint works great, but the plastic pieces flex, so a hardened paint will.......FLAKE OFF.....exactly what I see in your pictures....They charged you almost what a professional shop would charge you and gave you the Maaco special......about a $500 paint job.....I would get my Money back, actually they owe you money, because you are going to have to take it to someone else to strip that stuff off.
I too have bad luck with shops, I went through several ordeals installing my 6" Fabtech, the wrong lug pattern was shipped to me, the first company hassled me to the extreme about cancelling my order (it was Custom Wheels Direct in Santee, California...DO NOT buy from them), and Sportztrailers was refusing to ship me new coilovers, after the first received were scratched up and defective (locking compound was defective). I would advise to stay away from those guys as well, I really apologize about your Maaco job...because I doubt they're going to apologize for your trouble anytime soon. I was looking for a detailer and went by Maaco to see if they'd detail my truck, they had a sponsoring advertiser in the window so I stopped by that detailer and they told me if I was going to paint my truck, it's probably not a good idea to go through Maaco, they (the person I talked to) only used Maaco for older cars. It's common knowledge around here and expressions are often used as such, "Looks like a Maaco paint job."
I'm glad I didn't take their advice with a grain of salt, they gave you the reacharound. The paint job is their standard...that's fine. But saying they'd place dynamat around your doors and charging to do so...I'd prepare for court. I have no idea what kind of legal action you can take and it might be premature, but as someone mentioned before...make note of everything, namely conversations. $5k is an investment worth fighting for.
Now your truck is beautiful, but I don't like that color flake...but flakes can be gorgeous (the bmw 645i has a black paint job with silver flakes...it's beautiful but scratches easily). Don't they make FX4's in white anyway? I think the yellow is a little tacky, call me an ***. Where do you live abouts in Cali (what city). There is a Pismo Beach meet this weekend, a bunch of us F150's will be out there. It's a blast, check my gallery for pics of the last one. (the little camera icon in the top right hand corner of my post).

hotstang46, there's a Maaco shop in Cathedral City. Take your receipt, etc.. and go see them. From what I understand they are better than most. Cool to see another local truck on here. Yours is sweeeeeet! Enjoy!
I thank you all for your comments and support....I've just printed off all the comments for further ammo when going face to face for the first time tomorrow. I will post a new thread tomorrow to let yall know what i accomplished and what the plan of attack is....THANKS ALL!!!!
Well the shop wants to do the work.... I contacted an attourney before I went in there and we decided the best approach is to give the shop the opportunity to fix the problems. I spoke with the owner of the shop who was very apologetic for the whole thing and states he will personally do the truck "the right way" and only his hands will touch it from here on out. SO we'll see. I will post up when I get it back in a week or so....He knows what I'm expecting and he claims he can deliver, which would be fine with me. I don't want any more of a mess than I already have. I just want a custom painted truck that can withstand the test of time.... >>>>>post up in a week or so<<<<<<

Seriously, if you read one post - please read mine
If you want to be happy, then you MUST make them give you a warrenty IN WRITING that will make you happy for the next XX years. If you don't you should consider taking them to court for a complete refund AND damages in the amount of the cost of re-preping it for a new paint job.
At this point, the best you are getting is a lousy THIRD paint job over the top of a crappy 2nd paint job - and there is NO TELLING how long it will last...you might be pretty pissed a year from now again....
just FYI....

I just hope this guy listens to us.... I'd be embarrassed to even have a truck painted at Maaco, thats nothing to brag about either. They do horrible work, I hope sooner or later you will realize this and not get it painted again from them!

I'm not embarrassed, I just didn't know. From what I'd seen and the warranty offered I felt pretty confident. I was WRONG and made a mistake, only thing to do now is try to fix the situation, which is what I'm trying to do. My attourney's advice is to let them try to fix it....even knowing full well there is not a very high chance of being left with something that will satisfy me. If the product is less than what has been promised to me and I have proffesional opinions or obvious blemishes to prove my point, then I will have a MUCH easier case.
To answer the one who asked about the warranty.... with the service i paid for i get a 5 year warranty on every facet of the paint, peeling, cracking, gloss, etc etc.
Rest assured I'm going to have this paint scrutinized by those who are in a position to do so. At this point in time I'm acting as the attourney i talked to this morning suggested. Anyone familair with someone or who maybe even works for a shop in CALI that would be able to look at the work once completed to evaluate the work that was done?...... Additionally, if one was to be a painter, in the industry, or knows what they're looking at, would they be able to eyeball the paint on all the surfaces and be able to tell wether or not the job was done as promised..."showroom look and quality"? So as I can build a case against them after the vehicle is returned looking crappy as everyone is confident it will?
THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 6in pro comp with coil overs.......no rubbing front or rear...was worried about rear, but just did a 1500 mile road trip with my motorcycle in the rear and towing my steeda which is every bit of 5500 pounds inc trailer....I must say though, i've been side to side with several trucks with similair equipment and we've agreed I've got a small amount of lift more than em....hope that helps!!!!

I could ridicule the decision some people make when buying computer equipment but why? I do it for a living so should I criticize those that don't? Hardly. They make the best choice they can given the information and knowledge they have.
Personally, I think you are handling this in a very professional adult like manner. Document everything, cross your Ts and dot your I's. Then give the shop a chance to redeem themselves.
Good luck with the truck.
