A/C recirculation defaults to "off"?

On my wife's 2004 F-150 (I have a Lightning), the strangest thing keeps happening. When you push the button to make the A/C air recirculate in the cabin for maximum cooling, it resets or defaults to the "off" position when you turn the truck off. So every single time we get in the truck with the A/C running, we have to push the stupid button again. This can't be the way Ford designed it, and if so, it's absurd.

Any way to change this, or has anyone discovered a fix?

Yes, default setting. Freaking HATE that setting... I hate having to push it everytime I turn the A/C on..

you know I dont have a lariat. I have manual contols and unless I have mine Set to MAX cool it will do the same thing. Course this is South Louisiana and mine stays set to max cool.

its supposed to do that.

In fact... on a manual system you have to do it too.

It allows the vehicle to vent.

It also allows condensation in the ducts to evaporate.

.At minimum, it'll stink. Also possible is you get mold poisoning (you know that thing they are demolishing houses over)

Thanks for the input guys. I think it's the most poorly designed part of the whole truck, and totally irritating. Thankfully it's on HER truck!

Just leave it on auto. The system will adjust and cool accordingly for whatever temp you have it on, and it'll usually default to max A/C to get the cabin cooled down as quickly as it can.

This is what the manual says:

4. Recirculation control : Press to activate/deactivate air
recirculation in cabin. Recirculated air may reduce the amount of time to
cool down the interior of the vehicle and may also help reduce undesired
odors from reaching the interior of the vehicle. Recirculation engages
automatically with selection of MAX A/C or can be engaged manually in
any other airflow selection except defrost. Recirculation may turn off
automatically in all airflow selections except MAX A/C.

I'll have to try it, but I didn't think that when Auto was pushed the recirculation came on?
