Worth ditching SuperChips Programmer?

Hey guys i'm thinking about getting rid of my SuperChips Programmer for the Edge. Do you guys think its worth it or should I just keep what I got? I bought the Superchips Programmer before the Edge ever came out. I certainly noticed a big throttle reponse difference when I installed it. Just wanted to see what you guys thought.

I've had both. The main advantage of the Edge over the Superchips is the display. You can use it as additional gauges (tranny temp, etc)... Other than that, based solely on the actual tune, I'd stay with Superchips.

To me, the Edge is alot more user friendly. It stays with the truck and monitors pretty much everything computer related. I love my Edge. I wouldnt get rid of it for nothing!

i see that you have the 4.6 how did the efans help you out? underdrive pullies? I just changed my gears and the 4.6 has some power. I just got my edge two days ago and it made a BIG difference. I think if I were to tune mine more agressively I could burn them off the line. I forgot to mention that I had 37's. I don't know how much of a difference superchips made for you but the edge definitely made a difference for me.

EDIT: plus you have the tach we lack and other handy gauges

Yeah etrevino the e-fans helped out a lot. In matter of fact besides the 410 gears it was the most noticeable mod done to my truck. It also actually helped my gas mileage. I monitor my gas mileage at every fill up and I now average between 19-20 mpg every fill up with a mix of highway and city where as before I was averaging 18 mpg. To tell the truth I really didn't believe everybody when they said I would get 1-2 mpg better in gas, but damn they were right. The engine is also much quieter with the e-fans. The fans where worth every penny that I paid for them. As far as the SuperChips Programmer I guess I will stay with it for now and maybe eventually get the Edge.

That's what has me wanting the efans also, to help with the fuel mileage. Hey, if $400 duckies will save 2 miles per gallon, then they will pay for themselves in a very short time! It's a definite worthy mod to me and one that I will be doing pretty soon!

If my calculations are correct a 2mpg increase from say 16 to 18 mpg @ 3.00 a gallon would only save you .0215 a gallon to save $400 on the MPG increase alone would mean you would have to burn 18604 gallons of fuel or drive 334883 miles...... I guess they do pay for themselves in a very short time oh well I'd rather spend 400 bucks for 5-10 hp and pay for my 10mpg lead foot mwahahahaa

I was actually being a little fasicious. I know it will take a good while to actually make it up. The way gas prices are said to skyrocket, it might not take long at $15 a gallon.

You should have got in on the e-fan group purchase that just ended for $220 shipped. However, it wasn't the Troyer kit.

I believe your calculations are a bit off? Assuming $3/gal, it would take approximately 20,000mi of driving for the $400 payback. Not too bad?, but I have a hard time believing that e-fans can bag you a 12-13% increase in fuel economy. If that's true, that should be everyones first mod?

ohh **** your right the 18604 is the miles you would have to drive DUH you still gotta burn 1033 gallons ($3100) worth of fuel to save back that 400 bucks

Yeah, I wanted to. But I had just bought some mods and didn't have the duckies at the that moment.
