Key Fobs

Have an '06 XLT with the 5.4 and was wondering what kind of range you guys are getting. Mine only seems to work within 15-20 feet.

For me it varies depending where I park. If I park alone in a section of the parking lot I can get about 50-60 feet, If I'm parked between other cars that distance is reduced to about 20-30 feet.

I had read on here that if you hold the fob underneath your chin that it will work at longer distances. It surprised me when it actually worked.

As far as distance goes, as long as it works before I get to the door, I am happy.

Edited to add: It is almost hard to imagine that not that long ago, most cars had to be unlocked by putting a key in the door. Man, what will we have next?

Who knows, we may have vehicles that start from the push of a button from 50ft away.

Was just wondering. Just had my truck parked in front of my house and couldnt get the fob to work until I was about 10ft away. Nothing blocking line of sight or anything.

Anyone have the slightest idea what the problem might be: battery, bad fob, sun not aligned with the moon.

I would replace your batteries, sounds like they are starting to die. I had the same problem on my '05

Before I replaced it with the Automate 2-way it worked about 50ft away now the new alarm is from 1000ft so they say. Was able to start the truck from 2 blocks away while driving in another car.
