I think 'flashbang756' hit it right on. I will say this (not to incite more bickering) - at least 'bdavid' did something about it. Yes, he may lose money up front. But he gains money monthly. That is his priority right now. But he didn't just sit around and complain about it. He did something about it, for himself and his family.

Good luck brother. Hope to see you back in an F150 some day.

Good luck with new car (and kid!).

I understand cash flow being an issue. Not all of us can buy our stuff with cash.

I'd pay $1000 dollars a year to be able to drive a truck instead of a car.

Good move. Priorities change and I believe that he made the right decision based on immediate (and possibly near future) needs.

Trucks come and go and will always be available. Perhaps in the future, the finances will be more positive and then he can get back into a truck.

Congrats on the new family addition! Hopefully you'll be back with us - but in an MY '08..!

I agree about this being a decision that isn't "cool", but sometimes you have to take one for the team. Take it easy guys.

it's okay to admit she wears the pants in your family!

you know i'm just kidding...right?

Who are you to say it was done in haste?

I've driven a Ford truck for the last eleven years. Didn't need a truck, didn't really use them as 'trucks'. Decided it was time for something different. Got rid of the F150 and bought a Fusion. A four cylinder none the less. I really enjoy driving it. It's fun. The four cylinder has 160 horsepower. If any of you are older than 20, you might remember that 302 Mustangs in the early 80's only had 140 horses so this 'four banger' is not the dog you think. The 24 mpg city, 32 mpg highway is just icing on the cake.
Bottom line, you like your truck, that's great. I liked mine. Now I like my Fusion.
isn't there a fusion forum that's missing you right now?!

I never intended for my truck to be the "performer". All i wanted out of it was it to be dependable, comfortable, and nice; which it did. The bad part about it was that gas cost me nearly $700 a month. if i can cut that to about $400 with the Fusion it will be worth it. With the good deal i got on the Fusion with my trade in i am saving nearly $200 a month on the note. So that is possibly about $500 extra a month. For a guy with a wife a two kids, that kind of extra money will go a long way.

i can understand, as a family guy myself. lots of luck

I just got a new truck, but wouldn't even consider using it for a commuter vehicle. Trucks are handy when you need to haul crap, go off roading or drive in the snow, but they suck handling wise. Much more fun to drive the '00 Acura Integra GSR to work and it gets way better mileage. The truck will come in handy when it's time to rebuild the engine in the car tho. All that being said, I love both vehicles and they serve their purpose.

Good luck bro, no need to justify your decisions to anybody here.

Here's my 2cents. SAFETY!!!!! I was a first responder on a Fusion crash and it was not pretty. Not that I wish that upon anyone I am looking at the safety vs fuel mileage, My fiance and my dogs are my pride and joy, and there safety is number one, and that is why I have a F150 vs a car. I look at everyone who in the recent weeks who has had a wreck with there F150 and walked away with very minor injuries, compared to other vehicles. Good luck with the fusion it is a good car just not my top pick

So what kind of smart azz comment can you come up with about someone who got rid of their truck and bought a car just because they wanted to. I'm sure you'll try to twist this around somehow.
Not really words in your mouth, but you put them right in your profile. Why post your mpg next to your vehicle. I've never heard of a "Fusion 24mpg city". Is that the top trim level or one step down? What a tool

Talk about getting worked up over a 7 month old thread. The last time the original poster even logged into this site was 11/06. Let it die!!
