From the factory the will be an option listed as "DVD ELECTRICAL PREP PACKAGE" listed on your invoice.
Otherwise most folks get their power from their dome light, be careful i believe that this power is 'always on' so watch for battery drain.

for 2005+ , there is also a power/gnd/ switched 12V harness above the first bin, for any powered item you may add to the bins.

the DVD takes the DVD prep kit harness as sgerry mentioned.

Maybe he's thinking of getting one of these. Says it only hooks to 2 wires in dome light. Sure beats the price of $1500 from Ford.

A few people on here have complained about that set up. Said fit and finish just wasnt good quality.

Best setup I got was dual RCA players that mounted on the headrest for $100 from Best Buy. Sure keeps the kids occupied in the back seat. They were $200 but I had $100 from the reward zone where I had bought a 52" T.V.

I have them also and they definitly do the job but I want something more permenent and mounted in the rail system out of the way.

I know the factory setup has a smaller monitor than after market and it costs more but the look and functionality to me is worth it.

The wireless headphones, the control from the front or back, the ability for the kids to watch a DVD while I play the CD or radio, and the exact match and finished look made it worth it to me.

I love all the toys but I hate an "added on" look. Wires hanging, non-flush mountings, color mismatch, etc. I generally end up staying with stock because i hate the modded look.

I am sorry but that player looks like ***....there is no way I would go that route. Also I question the install using the overhead light as a power source....you would have to turn it off manualy everytime you turned the truck off or it would stay on. When I put a monitor in one of my bins I just ran a power and ground wire under the edge of the headliner and down the door post to the back of the radio and got my power there. I got power there so that the monitor would stay on after I switched the ignition off until I opened the door. It was very easy running the two wires...so getting power up there is not a problem. Infact I installed a XM Roady II in my dad's over head bin.

Here is a pic of the monitor I installed:

Ram...your install was great. I saw your original thread.

How did the Roady turn out? Got pics? I'd love something like that too.
