Regular stereo VS Audiophile?

Guys I was thinking of "upgrading" my stock single disc cd player and speakers to the audiophile with sub. Now do you think this is worth it or am I better off getting some aftermarket stuff?

I've been real happy with my audiophile system considering it came stock with the truck. That being said, if you didn't get it as an option, your $'s would go farther buying aftermark products.

Same here. Audiophile is all that I need to jam now and then. But once you already have your truck and are looking to upgrade, aftermarket is the best way to go by far!

Ditto. Great for stock. I have it and won't likely upgrade it. That said...if I was looking to upgrade a standard unit I would definitely go aftermarket.

I upgraded my basic 2004 HU to a Panasonic 50x4 Watt CD/MP3 player with an aftermarket 8" sub. When the Panasonic HU started giving me trouble, Audiophiles were going for reasonable money on ebay, so I upgraded to the Audiophile HU and sub and I have zero complaints, it's at least as good as my aftermarket setup, balanced better, plays MP3's and holds 6 discs in the dash. You will not have the harness in your 2004 and will have to make one. There are plenty of threads about doing this here, with the part numbers for the connectors.

The aftermarket is much better for sound quality than the audiophile. If I had to buy another truck then I would get the audiophile but since you didn't come with it don't waste the money.

After buying a complete Audiophile system from eBay, and selling my old stock system on eBay......I upgraded from stock to full Audiophile for about a hundred bucks.

I don't consider that a waste of money, at all.

Go aftermarket...you won't regret it. You just can't get 50-60w per channel out of a stock radio. A powerful head unit will wake up your door speakers and then you can decide to upgrade them if you want more.
