Ford knows about the problem. I think they upgraded the compressor for the 2007, but I might be wrong.

Mine sucked at first and when I took it in they said it was over charged from the factory, once they put it to spec it has worked great.

It's exactly the same to recharge with 134a...locate the low side port. It's harder to find than the high pressure side, but not hard to find. (if the fitting seems too big for the hose, then you are trying the high side, and need to look for low side service port). Once you are clipped into the low side port, start the engine, and turn the A/C to high. Be mindful of moving parts, of course. It's best to get everything up to operating temp before beginning also. Oh, and your r12 hose won't work, and you must get a 134a hose. Look for brass fittings unless you want to go cheap for plastic that will probably only last for a few uses. PM me for my phone # if you need more help.

My 06 regular cab will freeze me out if I have it up to high. It takes a few minutes to get my dark colored truck cooled off but Ive been very impressed with the A/C. I never use MAX A/C and I only use fan #4 for a few minutes to get it cooled off on 100* days.

Thanks for your reply! I think I can do it with your explanation. I'll buy the new hose

I've never been in an '04-'06 to compare, but my '07 isn't soo great at all (supposedly the system was upgraded for 2007). Anything above 90 degrees and it needs to be kept on recirc. with the fan on 3 or 4 to stay cool.

Anything above 85 or so and the AC won't do much of anything until the truck starts moving. The fan must not draw enough air through the condenser at rest. You can start the truck up on full AC/recirc and walk away for 10 minutes. Come back and open the door and the air from the vents will just barely be cooled.

Then while driving you hear a pretty loud hissing sound behind the dash every 8-10 seconds or so, and in between "hisses" the air from the vents gets noticably warmer.

I know I'm not being picky because I've had multiple brand new/newer vehicles and have lived in the same climate and never had this issue. I'm hoping maybe the charge is just a little light.

My '07 SCREW has fantastic AC. I use the back seats to hang meat when I'm coming home from the grocery...

Seriously, there's nothing wrong with my AC for sure.

For what is worth I have had similar problems as described above and live in the the Dallas Fort Worth area. With the temps around 90-95 degrees the cab on my 05 super never get cold. The air coming out is cool and with a 45 minute drive home from work will not keep the cab cool below three. I have had to reschedule with my local dealership twice becuase of the volume of vehicles in the shop for AC work and I would have had to leave the truck at the dealership for a at least three days before they could look at it.

There's a TSB about an oring problem. Not sure, but I think it was for the '04's only. That being said, my '04 takes forever to cool down so I'll be getting it leak checked and check the freon levels.

yeah my 06 sucks the big on on ac....its horrible...i have a 30 min drive home on all freeways and i usually have to leave it on max a/c on high all the way home in the summer when its 100 out. my 07 mustang will get so cold it gives me headaches. the same with my 98 f150 that i traded in on the truck. that truck had 170k on it and the ac was always so cold i could never leave it on the high setting for long.

i brought the truck to the dealer when i first bought it. twice i brought it in and they said there was nothing wrong with it. i think ill try another dealer and if not then an a/c shop.

Count me in the AC sucks category. It won't cool at all if the truck isn't moving. Been waiting for the summer heat so I can take it to a dealer and get them to check it out. Once I get going, probably within five minute it will start to blow cool air. At highway speeds it seems to blow cold air.
I've got an '05.

Just bought an 07 FX4 Screw and the AC isn't that great on mine. Traded in an 06 Tacoma with the 4.0 and it would run you out of the cab.

I've got 550 miles on my new FX2 Screw and have to admit I am not a fan of the A/C. We get hot here (109* the other day) and it didn't work that great even on max a/c. Even this past week when it's only been in the upper 90's low 100's it still is not the least bit impressive. I just tinted the windows on Tuesday and that didn't seem to help any either.
