New Edge owner has a question

When you all take your trucks in for service I'm sure you remove your edge, but do you completely remove all traces of it? I was wondering if you actually remove the plastic shrowd and tuck the cable back under the dash, or do you just unplug it and remove the actual programmer part? Just curious, I have an appt for 10,000 mile service tomorrow and wonder how far I need to disassemble it.

Thanks.

Disconnect and remove the pod. Cable can be hidden.

I had mine in this morning for a service issue. All I did was return the PCM to stock, then unplug the connector. The service guys asked what it was and I told them it was a tuner I'm using to correct my speedo. After plugging it in they liked how I had it setup to display Average MPG & Engine Load as a graph.

Remember, if it's just plugged into the test port running stock it's just acting as a test tool.

I Think you would be fine having it in there... Just tell them you use it to pull codes ect... But if you go to a dealership that is looking for reasons to hassle you I would take every trace of that thing out. Im sure there is a way for them to know if you had a tune on there and then took it off. I think in most cases the service managers and maechanics will think it is cool...

Although I forget the specifics, they can tell (for a certain period of time) if the PCM has been reflashed / tuned. There is a big long detailed process you're supposed to go thru that clears this "flag." I read it once and was like NO WAY IN HECK. Most people agree that if you return the truck back to stock a couple days prior to having it serviced you should run thru these steps in daily driving.

This flag goes for people who have to get their emissions checked too. It's to prevent people from disconnecting the battery (to reset PCM) in the parking lot, then going up on the sniffer.

Exactly but if you don't complete a drive cycle it just comes up as the battery was disconnected. Whos to say you didn't just work on your soud system!? LOL

I had my truck at Gary Yeoman's this morning because my stupid Toneau cover wouldn't unlock! I was locked out of the bed of my truck! You should have seen the guys faces when I plugged the Edge back in... it was like they had just laid eyes on a 20 ct diamond or something.

On a side note, what do you know about mud runs in Bithlo?? My friend with the BIG red truck is going out this next weekend I think he said. They went playing last weekend and got stuck pretty bad. He was able to be pulled out by another big truck, but one of his friends (blue Chevy 1500) had to get hooked up by two of those monsters. He said it sucks because those things have open diff's...

I don't know very much about Bithlow mud runs, I've never ran there. I know that its a lot easier than the Samsula mud runs and a lot more serious as in times and racing. They also let you have passengers!

Why not go check it out?! It's not THAT far from Deland... well, unless you're transmission is laying in the middle of the pit or something

He just said they have a 2.5 ton class that they're going to run. I asked how bad the holes were they got stuck in... he said, "Well... mud was only ~4" from the bottom of my doors."

My truck goes to Four Wheel Parts in Orlando on the 22nd to be leveled out. What do you think the chances are of me fitting 33 x 12.50 / 20's? I'm torn between the Mud Grapplers & Terra Grapplers... I went to get Terra Grapplers mounted up today, but Discount Tire was closed. I almost got into trouble a couple of times on the beach this past week pulling people out.

They don't make a 33x12.50x20 Nitto MG, do they?

I ran the 325/60/18 Nitto TGs which is a 33x13x18 with just a Daystar 2-1/2" spacer.

According to the Nitto website they do:

LT33x12.50 R20 E 114Q -- 32.95" tall, 12.80" wide

Now if I can find a place that carries them I'll be set. Prob either order from Discount Direct or have one of the stores bring them in.
