Unhappy Delayed Lift

I was going to wait until the lift was finished before I posted pics to show, but alas, the need to vent has overpowered my patience. I apologize to any in advance if due to its diary nature, this post trends towards the uninteresting. You have my full permission to stop reading whenever you wish. For the rest of you, on with the story.

It all started when I saw a fabtech 6" with dirt logic 2.5 coliovers at www.4wheelonline.com for $2100 shipped. Looking around it seemed that the going price for this setup was around $2800 + s/h, so the price was very attractive, plus I'll be in Moab, UT for Easter weekend and I wanted to look my best. I've wanted a lift and bigger tires (hasn't everybody) since before I bought my truck back in '03, so this seemed to me to be a sign that it was finally the right time and I decided to go for it. So I ordered it, got an estimated delivery date of Wednesday, and called the shop to schedule my lift for Friday.

Wednesday delivery day. FedEx shows up with 5 very heavy boxes. This was better than Christmas already, but what seemed like Christmas to me at first has quickly turned into an incident more in harmony with April Fools. I call the shop and they tell me to drop it all off early Friday so they can get to work on it. So I do just this and have one of the shop guys drive me back to work where I attempt to be a good productive employee, but of course what with all the butterflies in my stomach, I found it difficult to concentrate on much of anything. And then, around about mid day, the FedEx guy show up with two more big heavy boxes. WTF? My truck is my only vehicle, so now I'm stuck at work with two boxes the shop needs to complete my lift, and no ride to get it to them. So I give them a call and one of their guys runs over to my work and picks up the boxes. Ok, only one problem so far. No big deal. I can handle this right? So several hours later the FedEx guy shows up again. I'm telling myself they've got to be kidding me. Yep, another box. So I get on the phone to 4wheelonline to find out how many of these boxes there are and I am informed (after waiting on hold for 30+ minutes) that the lift consists of 4 boxes. Hmm... 4 boxes you say? I have just been delivered 8. So based on the evidence I reached the correct conclusion (and confirmed this with the shop), I had indeed been shipped two lift kits. Right away I got online and checked my credit card. Only one charge. Well there's one good thing about all this I guess. You can't beat two for one! So anyway, I had planned to leave the truck with the shop overnight so they could take their time and do it right. I even pointed out to the mechanic several of the issues I have seen you guys post here to make sure they were not repeated. My sister lives near me, and my work is on her way home from her work, so I had her come pick me up and take me home and arranged for her to drop me off at the shop on Saturday.

Saturday. I'm sitting at home bored as hell (nothing else sounds interesting today for some reason) with no way to leave, waiting with much anitcipation to hear from the shop, and they finally call and tell me that they need a new O ring and need to send the driveline somewhere else to get it rebalanced, both of which they can't do on a Saturday. That has to wait for Monday. Plus I find out that they didn't even start on the lift until Friday night. If they had started Friday morning like they were supposed to, they would have been able to have taken care of these two things on Friday. I've always been extremely pleased with this shop and it's service in the past, but I've discovered it apparently doesn't take much to leave a bad taste in my mouth. I'm probably just overreacting, but I'll save judgement on that until after this is all over.

So, now I sit and wait for the rest of the weekend, stuck at home. Now that I've vented, I do feel calmer, but I'm still upset. So if you're still reading this, thanks. I'll be sure to get pics posted as soon as I get this deal done. I realize that we all know what a lifted truck looks like, and that there's nothing extra special about mine, (except that it's mine!) but all the same, I'll be wanting to show her off anyway.

BTW, I read all of your post...I feel for ya!

Anyway, 2 FREAKIN" LIFTS? LOL Are they asking for the second one back? Do they know they sent you 2? If you get lucky and get to keep them both...that's justice right there!

Good Luck!

I feel for ya bro, all good things need patience sometimes. My lift install took an extra day too but it was well worth it, for sure!! You will be rocking soon I hope, just relax and it will be done before you know it.

Finally got my truck back Monday night. Pics of lift in my gallery. It's been rainy so I will replace the pics with better ones later hopefully.

I'm also sorry to report to all you hopefuls that apparently 4wheelonline.com doesn't think that I should be able to keep the second lift kit and they want it back. I think that's what's called an indian giver. Oh, well.

I notice when looking at my truck from the side that the front is higher than the back. The shop told me this was normal with new springs and that it would settle down a bit. I haven't seen anyone mention something like that on the forums before and am a little suspicious. Are they feeding me BS?

You could always add the procomp or skyjakcer 1.5" add a leaf. It would sit perfect then.

Truck looks great, glad everything worked out in the end The 2.5 coilovers, what is their purose?, more ride height or ride comfort?, or neither sorry a little ignorant on this subject, lift technology is a new terrain from what I'm used to. Sorry not trying to hi-jack your thread.

More money, no spacer, adjustable, and better ride in the rough
