Thanks for being the guinea pig. You and I have the same hex, so I usually wait until I hear from you to see if the update is good or not. I am still back on level 14a. Hopefully Bill reads this and fixes the shudder issue this time. I saw a post in the tuner section that said MSD purchased edge. Maybe that will be a good thing for us.

Why?

I would much rather have them update, then do nothing like some other brands.

We ask the Edge people for improvements, and they listen..... and provide.

What a great company.

So far Xcal2 hasn't had any of these issues and if they did you could always have Mike or whomever email you the new tune to put on your XCal2. But then again it's not custom tuning (Edge) so I guess you should expect the problems you're having.

But then again the prices on those two are really close. Oh well, each his own. Just making an observation.

Just got in from 110 miles with level 3 custom tune - combination of hwy and city..No shuddering that I have noticed yet. Only thing I can say is that I am only running about 13-14 mpg Drove normally too. I see my rpms are at 2200 @ 74 as opposed to level 2 running 74 is usually only 2090's to 2100ish....

Something doesnt sound right there, I know at 70 mph im at 1950-1980. Could your gear or tire settings be off on level 3?

I havent tried level 3 yet. Put yours in level 2 and see what happens. I notice on level 2 the rpms are higher before it shifts. I also hit 16 mpg yesterday and I never did that yet. I think the computer needs to adjust to our driving habits again. Mine changed a lot after the fourth day of driving with the initial tune.

Or you could go to the website listed in the manual.

I've got the new update...before I was running the programming that came with the unit. I've always ran level 3 with 93 octane, and I noticed that this version does not have a selection for fuel octane in the custom tuning menu, but there is a timing option that was not included in the original tuning. Anyone else have the octane option with their update or was it done away with????

I tried to update earlier today around 5 but the website was down. .

Correct, its now adjusted by the timing feature. Im running 93 octane, Im at sea level and Im running +1 timing. This will give you an idea of what to run.

If the speed is/was correct on both level 2 and 3, the RPM difference most likely is from the TCC not locking up. I have only had my EDGE for 2 days, so I don't have enough driving to know how it is in all areas or driving. I know all 3 levels work fine though.

The Xcal2 goes for 499 (+shipping?) according to TP's site as of today. The best price I've ever seen for the Edge (shipped) was $325. That's 35% more. Not really close, but that's IMO. Not trying to argue, but trying to keep this grounded in facts. Correct me if I'm wrong about the prices. Some people wipe their hind end with $174, and some don't.

God bless the Edge people for trying to put out a blanket tune for all the MANY various hex families. Tall order for sure. Realistic, or intelligent?...Debatable. They'd be much better off if they could custom tune for each truck, but then, how would you be able to get one in less than a week versus 4-6 weeks?

As I decided when I bought my Edge, it fits my budget and needs/wants better. No need to hate on either.

Update on update:

After a few days of driving on level 3, the performance I had been missing with the previous update is back. Running 0-60 in 7.1-7.2s range. Feels like it is getting stronger each day. No issues whatsoever with this update so far. Now, I need to get some miles on it and check the mileage..........it was way down (13) on the performance lacking previous version. Hopefully it will be back to the 16+ highway mpg range again.

I have RXAQ3B3 hex, 5.4L FX4, 3.73 gears, stock 18" wheels and tires, aftermarket Magnaflow exhaust.

Seems like only 2 possibilities here.

1.) The tire size is set wrong. Just because you checked it doesn't mean it's set correctly. Do it again, and set the number, not just check it.

2.) The torque converter is not locking up, on level 3. If it were the O/D the rpm's would be much farther apart, than the 100 rpm stated.

I bet it's the tire size not actually "set", just looked at.
