Question Question for 3" Skyjacker owners... yeah another one.

Tires: 315/70R17
Wheels: 17 x 9 with 5" Backspace
Will the 3" Skyjacker clear this setup on a 4X4?

The truck in the picture (Caseys) has the Skyjacker 3" lift, but with only 285/70R17's on 17x8's; however his backspacing is 4.25".

Reference:
285/70R17 = 32.7 x 11.2
315/70R17 = 34.4 x 12.4
315's are 1.7" taller and 1.2" wider... therefore only about 0.85" increase in radius height and about 0.6" in width on each side of the tire.

Also, this truck is running 295/70R17's w/ 4.63" BS, AND it's only 4X2.

Lots of trimming will be required on the inside shield and the front valance. I tried running 35x12.5x17 with only a 3" lift and was able to get it done by trimming. You can get it done though.

I pulled and sold the lift and went to a 6" Pro Comp. Then patched the holes I created.

There's got to be more SJ owners out there... or even the opinions of others will help.

More pictures here...

Does anyone know the owner of this truck? It looks like those might be the 315/70R17 BFG's, but I'm not sure. I found the pictures in Kanigit's gallery, but there's no info.

I can't remember his name, but I recall him saying that he was running BFG AllTerrain 315's on 17 x 8 MB Motoring rims with a 5.5 backspace. Either a 2" Daystar lift or an AS 2.5" leveling kit and was having no rub issues.

Im not bagging on anyone with the Skyjacker 3" kit because everyone has their own needs when they buy a lift or anything for that matter.

Baja150 just please re-consider buying this kit.

Thanks for the tip Thumper. I definately want to see one in person before I purchase to check out the angles going on up front. I saw some pictures on this site of the kit installed, but I thought they were taken with the vehicle jacked up and front tires off the ground (full droop). It's looking like these pictures I've seen are with the truck resting on the ground... I'm not too impressed.

I'd love to get a 6", but I just bought a house 2 years ago and a brand new 31 ft. boat that almost cost more than my house last year, so the 6" is off the board for a while.

Why should he reconsider this lift.

I am about to purchase one for my 2wd so I can fit 33's... I found the kit used for a steal. Should I also be reconsidering???

That it really isn't a lift at all. Lifts come with drop brackets and new spindles.
