So, whats the noise?

A couple had grease, yes, but very little. From what I hear, grease is a good part of what holds them in at full crank. I was disassembling them but if you're telling me this, I'm going to put it all back together and see if the shafts are moving while in 2wd before I take the entire thing apart.

Well where do you think they could be from?

Check out the photo and part about over extended cv joints, shows a good example of where the bearings came from.

Hell, I dunno. I do know those are way small for CV axle bearings.

Where else COULD they have come from?

I agree the ***** are too small to be from CV joints, so what else is in the front end that would have small, loose bearings? Are there any kind of ***** in the Integrated Wheel End - like a ball ramp clutch? If they fell out of an IWE then that might explain the noise . . . . .

Turns out my front driveshaft is spinning in 2wd along with the halfshafts. My vacuum lines are connected to the 2 prongs sticking out of the steering knuckle, so what gives.

Those are your muffler bearings Josiah.. they must have fallen out when you did the Magnaflow to Flowmaster swap....

Sorry, just had to interject a little humor into a situation that would have me putting a wrench through my garage wall.

This is strange.

Now that I've seen them up against the coins I agree that if they are CV bearings then they're the smallest ones I've ever seen; those are usually like 1" or so in diameter.

It just doesn't make sense to me where the sound could be coming from while driving. The only thing turning when there's no vacuum to the PVH's is the front and rear driveshaft which both have U-joints on both ends and the front axle shafts which have CV joints.

I admit that they are small, very small, but I'm sticking with the thought that they're from the CV joints. It just seems like too much of a coincidence that there's 12 of them and there's something making noises while rotating.

There were only 12 right? No more no less... are you sure?

How did you test this? They should turn if all you did was jack it up with the motor off and spin a tire. If the truck was running and you spun the tires by hand or put it in gear they they should not turn in 2 wd.

Is the engine running?

I just assembled everything and drove it down the street, the front driveshaft and cv halfshafts are all spinning in 2wd. If you're in the truck you can DEFINITELY tell there is something not right about the noises and vibrations, it's not even a vibration, it's almost like a hump everytime the wheel comes around you hit that hump and your truck bobs up and down. Hard to explain but I'm done driving it, it feels very risky. I went 10 feet down the street and thought to myself..."I've gone too f'in far" lol

Still only found 12.

Just a thought, but maybe they cut the diameter of the ball bearings by half but doubled the number of ***** per bearing......
