Should I go for it?

I have the opportunity to buy a set of wheels and tires from a local tire store owner. He has an 05 FX4 Scab as his shop truck. I saw him yesterday and jokingly asked if he'd be interested in selling his wheels and tires. To my surprise he said he was thinking of selling them in the next few weeks and if I wanted them he'd take them off now. He's had them on for about 7 - 8 months and they have practically all of their tread left.

The setup is 33X12.50R17LT **** Cepek Radial F-C II tires wrapped around 17 x 9 Ultra Assault chrome wheels. He quoted me a price of $1500 Cdn (about $1300 American).

The Tires:

The Wheels:

They are not the exact wheels I would have likely purchased new, but they are chrome (which I wanted) and they do have the nice thick spokes that I like. Also the tires are 33'' (which I like) and they have a nice aggressive tread pattern but apparently still ride nice on the highway.

So what do you guys think? Should I get them? Should I wait for exactly what I want and spend hundreds (or thousands) more? Thanks for your input.

I would wait and get the rims and tires that I really want. Thats just me and some people will just jump on a good deal and then later be unhappy.

I do not care much for that wheel, I would not be happy settling for them.

I would wait and get the rims & tires I really wanted, just like everyone else suggested. If you get these now, you might regret it later when you find some you really like.

I agree if its just a money saving thing I would wait . If your like most of us you wont be happy unless you get what you really want. I had the same debate about a lid for my truck. I could have gotten a Leer or ARE or Covermaster for 2/3 of what I paid for my Snug Top but thats what I wanted so I paid the difference and Im Glad I did.

I think the price is a little on the high side, especially to settle. Wait, shop around and get the exact wheels and tires that you want. You will be much happier in the long run.

Besides because he is a local guy, you will probally get " Hey arent thoes bob's old wheel's" instead of "Damn your truck looks great."

Good decision. I went through the same process and finally ended up with exactly what I wanted. Cost was a bit more but the headache of watching E-bay and various websites was cured. I now have pics of my truck, finally. I need to learn how to put them on the web.

Just because something may be a good deal does not mean you should buy it. I have my opinions on the wheels too ... but you didn't ask for that ... so I won't give it.

i dont know i just cant imagine a ghetto fab wheel like that in a 17" on a 33" tire, maybe if was a 24" wheel you could get by with something that looks like that, maybe
