My distance is sad as well. Like you, I typically get around 10'. This isn't due to battery strength on the remote as I've changed them twice in 15 months now because I was hoping it was something as simple as the ole' Duracell.

Under the chin eh? Can science explain this one? I'll give it a go the next time I'm out.

I don't think it has anything to do with science. Unless you have a lot of fillings that may boost the power of the remote.
I think it's just the higher you hold it the better line of sight to whatever it is that receives the signal.

Holding the remote at the same height, next to my head, and it won't open the door. Move it under my chin, and bingo.....door opens.

Yep. I tested this in an empty parking lot. I heard someone suggest it a long time ago and though that it was crazy.

I started at the truck and walked to where the range ended while holding the fob at waist height. Then continued on, trying holding it higher etc. Once I was sure there was no other aiming/height distance (including next to my head and higher in the same position as the under the chin) that would make it work I then did the aim it up under the chin with mouth open head pointed at truck and bang. Walked even farther out and still working. Tried using the fob without the chin and still nothing...

Since the RF from the fob should be going through skin/bones anyhow I'm not sure why it acts as a concentrator...

No I don't think the turbinator works

You are using your body as a ground plane, or think of it as the reflector bowl of a sat dish that reflects the RF to the LNB in the nose. You are just bouncing the signal off of the water in your body.

My 01 KR had a range of over 100'. You could find the truck in a parking lot. My 05 KR's range is like 20'. It is a big difference. Changing batteries didn't do anything. Check with dealership and that's the way 05's are.

Yea.. the chin thing does work sometimes.
Can anyone else get ahead of their horn if they hit the lock button real fast from far away?
It only works for me if i'm like 30 feet away and hit the button like 12 times real fast the horn will go crazy, it's funny as hell.

Well, I have a couple of crowns and a filling or two so, I'll be the one to test that...

I know that I've raised the remote above my head several times in an effort to try to get it to work from a greater distance and, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work for me... that's why I'm wondering if this chin thing is some kind of weird, unexplainable, voodoo.

It really is as simple as ChrisAdams says...your body basically becomes a big antenna, thus increasing the range. It really works. The question I have is, what has Ford done to the the wireless remote systems over the past few years (to cut costs no doubt) that decreased the range so dramatically?

In that case, it is pretty scientific. The body is very electrical...

I have personally tested this on several different vehicles, with the same results.

Up under the chin equals more distance.

I found the best way is to hold it facing the car, and with my fingers in between the remote and my chin.

Try different positions for best results.

I tried that too but found jumping up and down on my left foot gave me more range in addition to the remote and chin method.

I'm one of the fortunate ones with an awesome range for the keyless remote. I haven't measured out the distance but my guess would be over 100', probably closer to 200'.

My truck is 15 months old and I bet I haven't used the key fob to lock/unlock the doors 10 times. I always leave the keys in it when I get out and used the door pad thing to lock/unlock the doors. That door pad thing has spoiled me. I love not having to carry keys in my pocket!

And before somebody says something about it being stolen because I left the keys in it...if they want it bad enough to break into it they can have it!

I thought everyone in Albany left the doors unlocked. Though maybe it's different than 'dosta
