Coolent, transmission temps
Coolent, transmission temps
I just got a edge and have been watching my water temps and transmission fluid temps. My water temps seems to stay at 194, and my transmisson varies between 134 and 146. Transmission seemed hot to me since it is the dead of winter. Outside temps are about 50 or so here in california. Do these temps seem normal to what the rest of you with edge are seeing.
your transmission seems warm to me, but then again you live in quite a bit warmer climate than i do. maybe someone will chime in that knows whats a acceptable temp range for these transmissions.
140-180 would be normall for the tranny. Start to look out when you tranny temp climbs up to 200F (Usally only when towing or offroading)
Engine coolant will range between 192-198 usally. It will raise as higher with high rpms. Dont worry about it untell you start to see temps in the 215+ range..

What is involved with hooking up a tranny temp gauge? Is this something I can do in a couple hours of work? I'm not much of a gear head, so I don't know what all to expect. Since I'll be installing this supercharger this week, and towing a hefty trailer for 3650 miles in a 4 day timeframe, I'd like to keep an eye on it. I'm not looking for a step by step, although that would be nice, but more so just an idea of what the job entails.

it will come with an 1/8" Sender. All you need to do is unscrew a bolt pluging the test port on the driver side of the transmission case and screw that sender into that same port. Then just run the wiring to your gauge.
If you need help just send me an e-mail and ill walk you though it and try to get you some pictures.
