Help ? about (CEL) Check Engine Light

My question is this..once you fix what caused the CEL to go on, do you need to reset ( disconnect battery ) to make the light go off, or should it just turn off by itself? What made mine go off was my Volant, the air tube came off the throttle body Again
Thanks

NO it will not turn off by itself. Once there is a failure, the light will stay on until the failure is fixed and the DTC is erased.

Man I don't get it At first I had a heck of a time getting that hose that connects the air tube to the throttle body and is held by the 2 clamps to make a tight connection. So when I finally did, so I thought...I get a CEL, I go check under the hood and sure enough the air tube had come off the throttle body. This is the second time

Use some type of scanning device that reads DTC and delete the DTC. I'm not sure if disconnecting the battery works, I have a scanner so I never tried that method.

A tuner, a ScanGauge or any diagnostic tool will clear the codes.
A lot of retail autoparts stores will do it for you, either as a courtesy, or for a nominal fee.

You've got the Edge Evo don't you? You should be able to view and clear the DTC under the Diagnostics options. Sorry about the tube popping off the TB. I've checked those clamps on my Volant a few times, seem to loosen up some. I guess make sure the tube is down in the sleeve enough for the clamp to hold it in place. Hope you can clear your DTC's.

Hey TUFF, use your Edge to check the DTC and clear it. I have done it, no problem.
BTW, glad to hear you got your truck working again, my Edge is still a paperweight. I'll be loading my predator back in tomorrow.
