Well after a complete dissassembly,a good cleaning, painting, and reassembly with a new power point socket and new wiring here is my XLT console ready for installation.

What did you paint? The lid and sides to match the FX4 interior?

Definitely a mod I want to do on my truck -- that "20" center seat is useless for what I want out of my truck!

I painted the side and rear panels with krylon fusion paint in black. The parts were lt. gray (flint) and I don't have any light gray anywhere in my interior so I painted them. I allready had a black lid that I swapped with the gray one.

I think I'd rather have the 20 seat...for some reason when two girls ride with me neither want to sit in the back so I just pop the "console" and have one sit next to me.

Was the flow through console even an option on the XLT?

No, it was not. The flow-thru console is longer and has the shifter mounted in it.

Do you have a 20 seat? If not I have my old one if you're interested, it is in black cloth.

No I've got one. Hence me saying I would rather have my 20 seat than the XLT console. Thanks though.

But you actually said I think I'd rather have the 20 seat...

05REDFX4 if you do upgrade to leather you can get a Lariat flow through lid in leather and it will fit perfectly (thats what I did). The Lariat consoles only cost about $45 shipped. I like it WAY better than the plastic XLT lid. Also watch out for your seatbelts rubbing the sides of the console, they will rub the paint off.

Thats why I used krylon fusion paint, it's supposed to soak into the plastic and change the color, not just coat the surface like a normal paint does.

Trust me it will still rub off a little if your not careful...not bad but it will "scuff".

Just FYI the cheap (45 buck) shipped flow through consoles have dried up. They posted what they refered to as 'the last one' a month or two ago.

Looks great!! Good job on it. Reminds me I need to get off my *** and finish my flow thru console...just have the fill in parts wedged into place against the dash till I figure out how to bolt them down permanently.:o
