Finally got a ticket

Last night I went to a ball game in pochahontas(AR) and on the way back I'm going 55MPH(I later found out that it was a 35 MPH zone) and some A$$ hole pull out in front of me so I(thinking it's a 5 lane highway) turn on my blinker and start to pass the guy then all of a sudden I see a cop drive by me and make a U turn and then I saw the blue lights. I didn't know what I had done but he said I passed in the turning lane and I was speeding. He let the speeding go since I wasnt from around there and it was an honest mistake but I got a careless driving ticket for passing in the turning lane. I thought the ticket should have been Improper passing but he didnt give it to me.

I got my first on Valentine's day, I was speeding coming home, 85 in a 65. They were cracking down hard in Pleasanton that night, I saw 2 guys in front of me at seperate times get pulled over, one was right after I was leaving the shoulder from getting pulled over myself.

Sorry about the ticket...I know that does not help much but I feel for you. Dont the Police have more serious things to do. I mean if I am driving at 100 mph and cutting people off thats one thing but tickets for small stuff is crap..!!

I watched half of the osceola and Riverview game then I went home because I went to earle to watch BIC and Riverside play but it was packed so we decided to go watch our Girls(Rivercrest) play Mountain Veiw but we got their in the 3rd quarter so we watched some of the osc. and Riverview game since it was after the girls game. They couldn't stop that real tall guy, I think he was #10 but not sure.

About the ticket, I guess i'm going to go to court and plead guilty and try to get probation instead of getting it put on my record and making my insurance go sky high(17 yr. old with new truck, yeah you know what I mean). My aunt told me if I plead guilty and the judge decides to give me probation it wont go on my record but if I get stopped again both of the tickets would go on my record. She know a lot about this because she's gotten many tickets in her cobra mustang. He probably wouldnt have stopped me if I didnt put my blinker on to go around the guy because he probably would have thought I was going to turn. They funny thing is he was so short he could barely see inside my truck and I did all I could to not laugh and cry at the same time .

Any ways FX4holmes, HOW BOUT THEM HOGS!!!!!!!! Beat Tennessee on the road and came back from 13 down. THe hogs are tourny bound

Yeah I got very lucky tonight. I went out of town on a two lane country road to open her up a bit. I came to a light with a house across the intersection on my left. I saw two cars there. As I approached the light at 30 mph I floored it and went through the light. Unfortunately the light turned red and the two cars on the other side were cop cars. I was thinking "great, display of speed and running a red light." Of course the lights flashed immediately and both cars came after me, so I pulled over right away. Luckily they didn't even notice I was winding it out. Very nice guys and were concerned mainly that I wasn't headed to watch some races in Morgan Hill. After a little questioning they just said, "watch the lights and don't let us catch you at the races tonight because we'll haul you in."

Hey Professor, 20 mph over and passing in a turn lane ?? I think you would have gotten stopped no matter where you are from. Like the others have stated, you're lucky you didn't get popped for both.

I'm not sure how it works in Arkansas, but up here you can contact the prosecutor's office and check into a "driver's diversion" course. Usually you pay twice the amount of the ticket and attend an 8 hour class, but it keeps it off of your driving record and your insurance is not effected.

Just an option......

Are you positive your insurance is un-effected?

Yes, That's the reasoning behind the classes, it benefits younger drivers. A young person can screw up, hopefully learn from their mistake thru the class and not be penalized by the insurance companies. The actual traffic offense should never show up on the person's driving record so the insurance company is never the wiser.

I'm not really sure how it works but monday i'm going to call and see how it works. I thought it was a 55 mph zone and I also thought it was a 5 lane highway because the main highway I came into the town on is that way and it's the same highway. The buy pulled out in front of me so I really had no choice but to pass him. If I would have stomped on my brakes I may have still hit him but the officer didn't really care. It's completly my fault because I was going over the speed limit in the first place but He could have understood why I had to pass the guy. The cop was coming toward me in the other lane so he didnt really stop me for speeding because he said he really didnt know how fast I was going but he knew I was speeding. To top it off the cop was a real ******* about it. I still can't get over how short he was
Hey FX4holmes, I might be down that way for the Rivercrest game wednsday for the girls game. Is the Gym hard to find? The pochahontas gym was way back in the hills in the middle of nowhere.
