Why are fuel tanks smaller on a 6.5 bed crewcab?

Whoops this is definitely wrong...30 was standard...

my 5.5bed was standard with the 30.
now actually using 30 gallons is a different matter. If I go 20 miles after the low fuel light I can fill up 25 gallons.
I've still yet to find the other 5 gallons.

Some people say you'll burn up your pump if the gas got too low...go too low and you're pulling in the sludge...etc.
Nobody has actually driven the truck until it stopped and then filled it up to see how much it handled.

ive got mixed reviews on my 36.7 gal tank- bout a month ago, i get the beep- low fuel- i go 15 miles, engine lights lock on, no power anything, wont restart- and im out pushing- SOB! it took 34 gallons. on another earlier occasion, got the low fuel beep, was about 10miles to a station-so pulled in- filled it up with 37.23 gallons.

That pretty much deals with the sludge theory. As for the fuel pump burning up....I can tell you I run my truck down to fumes all the time...do so on every vehicle I've ever owned and never had a fuel pump problem. Personally, I think they leave 5 gallons of fuel in the tank because they are to lazy to properly design the fuel system. Tell me, if you are going to have a system that counts down your miles to empty for the driver...why in the hell would you intentionally leave over 1.5 hours of fuel in the tank once it has annoyed the guy every 10 miles with the BEEP...LOW FUEL...YOU ARE GOING TO DIE...OH MY GOD...GET FUEL NOW warnings. Its one of the few things about this lariat that really pisses me off. I really would like to turn that fuel reminder crap off...if it's going to be uselessly inaccurate..why bother.

Except that it doesn't happen like that...I'm with Bill on this one. I run it down to fumes (on all my cars) and it just doesn't "quit" like it's turned off unless it is out of gas. Oh....and if you do run out of gas, turn the key on and off 3 times after you gas up and it starts right up! Guess how I know?

Ive got a 36 gallon tank. It suites me well since I use it up almost once a week. They have to make these trucks with big tanks or Id be filling up everyday
BTW: I think the 36 gallon tank is an option on all trucks
