Badge and Ford oval removal, how to ?

I think its highway robbery that they are charging to remove the emblems before painting, I worked in a bodyshop for 2 years and that was part of the prep job before painting just as is sanding, taping etc, I woud get a second opinion even if you take them off yourself, it makes me doubt the quality you would recieve.
They may have just been trying to help save him some money and do the job cheaper. I was quoted $250 for mine. I didn't ask about me pulling the emblems off to be any cheaper. I can understand the shop charging to remove them it is one more thing they have to do to get it done.

I know there are aligment holes behind those.On my 05,the painted part of the F-150 emblem is flaking off.I pulled the emblem off the drivers side to replace it with one just like on the tailgate(just says F-150 instead of F-150 5.4 Triton)Just heat it up good and pry,then use WD-40 to remove the goo.

Here I foung this picture from another thread. It shows the aligment holes on the ovel emblem.
