Paint drips on new 06

Weather was nice out today, so I decided to wash the new '06 Scab today for the first time. As im drying the truck down, I notice a few drips at the bottom of the driver front side door, hoping they were just water at first but then realized that they are runs in the factory paint job. I was pretty pissed off after seeing that, immediatley checked the whole truck top to bottom looking for anymore, but its just that one spot. So I called up the dealer said to bring it in and they will take care of it. Has anyone else had this problem? I know that its happens every so often on new cars, I just hope they match the paint well and its not noticeable. I was also wondering if they truck was damage in transit and the dealer may have had to toch up a dent or something before I bought it. Anyway just needed to vent, no other problems at all with the truck so far.

It happened to me. I had some junk in my paint on the side bed panel. I had it removed. At first they taped it off and just painted that part and it came out like crap. Then they repainted the whole panel and it came out like crap. Then they fixed it again and it passed my inspection. Today I was washing the truck and it looks like the paint does not match 100%. More like 99.5%. I think a good waxing might solve the problem. You would still have to know it had been repainted to be able to tell any difference, but I have a very discerning eye. If you can live with the drip I would just leave it.

However since it is a drip they will probably just sand it and re-clear the door. Shouldn't be a problem. I had something stuck in my paint and after they removed it there was no paint underneath, hench the need for a repaint. Good luck. Any pictures of the drip?

Tried to snap a few pics but couldnt get them to show up. Its not just one drip, its a line about 6" long of drips. I looked the whole truck over real well before driving it home too. Can't believe I missed this one, shame on me.

I'd be pissed, definitely get that repaired! Thats a RUN, not just a simple drip....You'd think these guys would be a bit smarter than that while painting....They must have just some good cheeba before your truck

I bought my truck with out even doing a complete walk around. I was lucky, there were no messed up places on the whole truck.

I had something in the paint on the top of the c-pillar and when they tried to buff it out they burned the paint. Took it in, no problems, ready to go in a week. Looks perfect.

After the first wax I noticed on the rear pillar there was a bunch of dimples in the paint. And on the drivers side door it looked like they had painted on a anti-slip coating over the entire bottom and front door edge. Took it in they looked at it and reapined both places I can't tell the difference where they painted it and I'm real **** about paint. I have found maybe one or two dimples in other spots on the truck but they in corners so I am blowing them off. You should have seen the door though. I really thought it was supposed to be like that but it was just mine that looked like that. The good thing about a new truck is the pain is easier to match. You may not ever notice anything different about the re-paint or you may in 5-10 years.

I was expecting runs everywhere after I saw that one, but the rest of the truck is ok. I assume most new cars are painted by robots instead of people, anyone know for sure? There plenty of orange peel but that is expected on a factory paint job. I can live with some peel but not runs like that.

That looks like something the dealer should have caught during pre-delivery. I used to do it here at the dealership when I first started working, I was pretty nickpicky about things like that. The truck drivers that delivered new vehicles would just cringe when I walked around a vehicle. Every little scratch and dent I found would come out of there paycheck.

My wife's '05 Escape has a slight sag in its paint near the fuel filler door. It's not real noticeable, but I was kind of surprised to see it on such a new vehicle. Our Escape was built at Ford's Kansas City plant, which also manufactures the F-150 -- I would be curious to know which plant manufactured your truck?
