4.56 gears

I have the regular 3.73 gears in my 04. I want to upgrade to get better acceleration(or get my stock accel back rather). What have guys been cutting their 0-60 and 1/4 mile times with similar tire setups that i have? What i really want to know is it worth it to change the gears or not.

Yes it is very worth it! My truck had 3.55 gears stock and after changing to 20s and 32 inch tires it bogged quite a bit. With 22s you definitely will benefit because that's a lot of extra weight to get rolling! I am running 4.56s and now that it's tuned properly (Bamachips ) she runs like a raped ape! Gears are something that everyone overlooks because they are pricey ($500 4x2 and $1200 4x4 installed) but well worth it for restoring your power and gas mileage. With the 20s and 3.55 gears I was getting 13 in town and now I am up to 15.5-16 in town.

since thats something i have no idea about.....i know what traction bars are, but why would i need them since i slammed my truck, rather than a stock truck? I know many need them on taller tired trucks. other than that im clueless.

Your gona have some real big TQ gains. Since you dont have stock rear leafspring's. And your gonna get some wicked wheel hop.
, and your pinion angel will be off real fast then you will jack up your drive shaft, maybe even bust your leaf spring's.
How do I know this Because I have done what you plan on doing and that's some off the crap that will happen unless you get those Traction bar's

even if im not running that much horsepower? I realize that for the higher hp trucks like the lightning that are running around 400 rwhp need traction bars for wheel hop and what not, but i dont plan to run at the track, just every now and then so i know what i have under the hood and to mess with my buddies at work. I dont want to fubar anything in my suspension like the leafs or the driveshaft though. I want to find out all the info before i do anything....i do appreciate your help though, i just checked the lightning forum and i now know 100 percent more than i did this morning. Thanks

ps....are you saying this because you have messed up your driveshaft and leaf springs with the 4.56's? I believe you have the black truck with the black 20's on it. Just wondering

would the fact that you had air bags have made any difference? (not saying you do, but i would assume since the 4/6 drop). Has anybody else with the 4.56's had any problems thus far, cuz i know that you all have floored it to see what the response is like.

If your going to do the 4.56s, you really need to get the traction bars. While your at it get a rear sway-bar, you'll thank me later.
