Someone posted that the Volant intake "sounds good"...what kind of sound are we talking about? I was looking into getting one and this made me even more curious!

like a more deep whoooom sound. hehe hard to explain. I don't see how anyone would not like it. Not obnoxious whatsoever.

I'm think the polished top, Volant said that they would still sell the carbon fiber top till they ran out then they'd start shipping the polished. Being we had to wait for them I'd say we're getting the polished.

Thanks Stuck

That's what I wanted to know.
I hope it sounds great with the Roush exhaust I have.

I think you all will love them, I know a lot of F-150 drivers with big grins on their faces. Definitely the nicest built unit available right now.

Received my Volant last Friday and installed it on Saturday. Thanks Bob!

My impression of the intake is that overall it is a very complete aftermarket product. I had to download and print the instructions of their website. I had heard that none come in the box, I was right. I followed the instructions, step by step and they really helped. I also printed off some suggestions from the forum here on things to watch for in the install, especially with the box. That thing's huge!

One thing I would like help on is the vibration. At certain lower RPM's I get alot of vibration in my dash, gas pedal, and that whole general area. Has anyone found any fix for this? If there is something that can be placed on the tray where the Volant box sits? I did place a vinyl pad between the box and the tray (it's all I had). Or is the vibration being caused from something different?

Other than this detail, I really enjoy the Volant, it's performance, and the overall quality of the product.

A couple of things to check/do for the vibration. First, I added another bolt on the bottom of the box located left foward corner (as you are looking from the front). I also lined my tray with 3/4" weather stripping. The last thing, is make sure the box is far enough away from your brake fluid reservoir. The reservoir can be moved over about a 1/4" if it isn't already. I have no vibration at all now.

You're the forum member who gave that great write up on your install. Thanks for responding! Yes, I remember you mentioning the extra bolt-down. I'm not sure of the insulation that you used, but I'm on the look out for some type of insulation or sound dampening pad that I can use. The brake reservoir has been a concern for me, I'll attempt to move it over like you suggest. Thanks again. Can't wait to get this liitle issue out of the way and totally enjoy this intake.

Your welcome for the advice, but I'm not the one that did the great write up. I don't want take the credit for that. These are the things that I came accross and fixed.

The weather stripping is the stuff you find at Home Depot with an adhesive backing. I used 3/4' by 3/4" IIRC.

I noticed the brake reservoir vibrating on the box everytime I put the truck in reverse and had the brake on. I put the wife in the truck (only time she was behind the driver seat...and last) LOL and that's how I found out what was vibrating.

Even with these minor mods...which I believe Volant should fix...I still think it's the best intake for our trucks. Especially, if you have a performance truck and spend the extra for the snorkel attachment for that RAM AIR effect.

Oh well, I thought you were the original guy. Thanks regardless for your help here.

I'll be heading there this week.

I agree. I sent an email to the GM there at Volant. We'll see. Maybe some of the later versions will include these suggestions. Regarding the snorkel. That will have to be a mod for the near future. Truck tags and the inevitable April 15 are coming up. Gotta save my pennies.
