going through a car wash

I live north of chicago and i hate having rock salt dust all over my truck. in the winter I usually go through a touch free car wash to get the crap off. but i just bought a supercrew and I am wondering if I can fit! anyone take a supercrew through a car wash and have it not fit?

My Screw fits, but I do fold the mirrors in on the touchless wash.

I spray my truck off once or twice a week at the quarter carwash. I NEVER use the brush...only the high pressure soap, high pressure rinse, hot wax, the high pressure rinse again. I do a hand wash and wax in the Fall, then another in the Spring and lots of quarter-washes all Winter long. We had a little snow this week, so I just did my third wash in a week...one last Saturday, one on Wednesday, and one today. I'm **** about my truck being dirty!

Why do you not use the brush soap, is it the brush or the soap?

I would never bring my truck to the car wash. I rather have a dirty truck then let it get scratched in the car wash.

I take my truck to my parents house which is about 10 mins form me to wash it there. I live in a town house so I have no mean of doing it here. It depends on the weather b/c my truck will fit in the garage there so I might wash it inside or ruff it out and wash it in the driveway.

It is a brush on a long handle that the soap and water come through the brush head. If you ever saw one of them you would not be using it on your truck either. I know the place by my house the brushes are all f-ed up and are only good for washing a garbage truck.

Touchless is the only way I'll go if I'm in between my own washings. There are some around here that are quite good, for a good price.

The brush collects dirt and grit from previous vehicles and grinds it into your paint.

I either wash it myself or maybe take it to a touchless.. but I think it's better to take it somewhere than me do it.. cause the Good Lord knows that I use a brush with bristles(sp) and such..

Depends on the car wash. We have a new laser guided automatic car wash in town and it will handle up to a crew cab dually with no problem. I don't even bother to fold the mirrors in. Another car wash in town, I do have to fold the mirrors in. I guess you'll just need to take a look at it and try it.

Here's what we do in the winter months. Spring/Summer/Fall we do it by hand.

1. Rinse off the truck with the spray wand.
2. Rinse off the brush also with the spray wand (important step)
3. Use the Dirt Remover low pressure rinse
4. Use the brush with soap (only way to really get the crud off)
5. Rinse off the truck
6. Head down the freeway to dry it off before water spots form

I took mine to a car wash in arkansas lol, and it was the "touchless" kind. Well the big bar that has all the sprayers that is supposed to follow the contours of your truck went over my cab and then slammed into the bed of the truck ....twice

Course i was stuck, and to scared to just drive out while it was going crazy.

Luckly they had a sign out front that said they accept no responsiblity for anything - cool huh !
