Ever heard of Auto Saver?

Hey guys, I got this auto saver thing on my truck.

Lifetime warranty against rust...

Its these little boxes that are supposed to make your metal "alive" so the rust cannot form.

It came with a lifetime warranty, but the dealer dropped it on me at the last second so I didn't have time to research it. I said yes after they agreed to an enormus discount...

anyone ever heard of or expereinced this? I have talked to guys that had it on their cars for the last five years locally and all is well, but that isn't a really good long test period...

I have no intiontions of making you feel inferior but unless you're like those of us who offroad, I don't think this is going to benefit you. I have not seen a street vehicle rust. I have had rust issues with many parts, including my brakes and rotors among others.

Interesting, that's the first I have actually heard of it. Did you get the whole package? Electronic, paint and interior protection? Expensive?

I don't even know what the heck an "intiontions" is, but it's obvious you've never been around vehicles that spend a couple winters in the upper midwest. I've seen the salt put on streets for ice melting literally rust the frame out from under a vehicle...

As to the Autosaver gizmo, I hope you didn't spend more than the cost of a six pack, because I'd give you about $3 worth if insurance that it will do you any good. Well known ripoff.

Anything the finance department sells you as an *add-on* is worthless.

"Intentions", what are we in 3rd grade, I rarely make a typo so you get a cookie. I have never lived in the salt infested hills you speak of but I can't see salt corroding quicker than mud and sand.

If it's really that important to you, Nazism is spelled Naziism in that case.

Do some web research before you release any of your hard earned cash for this snake oil.
It's a technology that is essential on boats, ships, bridges and large buildings.

It has been found not to work on car/trucks. Just another 'money maker' with no real value.

Sounds cool, and hope it works out for ya. I have heard of products like this. I do not live in a snowy area or on the ocean, so I have not needing anything like this so far.

You have never lived in the rust belt then... lol. I feltthe same way when I still lived in WV though, I never owned a car that was rusted through. But in Ontario I have seen trucks less than ten years old rusted through over the wheel wells and tailgate.

I got it for a couple hundred bucks. They guarantee everything in writing that is is covered so it was worth a shot to me.

Worse case scenario is it rusts and they have to fix it as far as I can tell...

Easy now big fella, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I don't seem to recall referencing any hills, but whatever...and by the way, don't bother correcting what is already correct:

"Na·zism Audio pronunciation of "naziism" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (nätszm, nt-) also Na·zi·ism (-s-zm)n. The ideology and practice of the *****, especially the policy of racist nationalism, national expansion, and state control of the economy." You see, it doesn't matter if it has one i or two.

It's obvious you don't have an answer to his question, and boosting the number of posts you make is more important than trying to share any good information, no matter what your original "intentions" were...and I would surely never intend ot question someone with your extensive offroading experience, especially when Mommy can call in the cops on me

Lived in Hawaii, and Guam. Vehicle rusted just sitting there perfectly clean. No mud or road salt needed. Most vehicles in Guam would rust away before the enging had 50,000 miles on it. That was 20 years ago, might be better now.

My uncle was stationed in Hawaii for 10 years and never had a rust problem. His secret was putting kerosene in his car wash water once a week. The finish always looked a little dull but the darn thing never rusted, go figure

Living near the ocean or in northern states where they use salt on the road will corrode any car a lot faster than off-roading. Mud is not corrosive? Off-roading will just make your truck dirty and cause squeaks from sand wearing against parts. As for rusting, I seriously doubt it under normal conditions, unless you're off-roading in the ocean.
As for the Auto Saver thing, looks like a waste, but if the discount was "enormous" enough, then why not get it? Couldn't hurt.

I don't know if it's true, but I recently read that one reason we have negative ground electrical systems these days is because positive ground systems cause more corrosion. So if that's true, then in reality you already have an electrical corrosion protection system in place.
